“Damn the Torpedoes” Won’t Work Any More

“Damn the Torpedoes” Won’t Work Any More

Crystal-balling

The whole other thing that resulted from this incident of my own making three days  ago (1) was that I had another flash or gestalt (seeing the whole thing in a moment of illumination), which I’d like to discuss.

I’d like you to regard this as the kind of flash that has us change our vote, because the flash goes deep enough into our consciousness.

This can also be called a realization; a realization is bliss lifting us up and having us see things from that higher-dimensional perspective. Problems become situations because we have much, much more patience at this higher vibratory level and can see more variables and options.

What I realized is, hey, Steve, you’re going to be CEO of a very large enterprise.

Let me share with you in a footnote some of the things Michael has said about it so you can get a sense of what I live with from day to day as I contemplate this future as a CEO. (2)

I carry this knowledge with little idea of how I’ll do it, anticipating that Heaven will help. (3) The only thing I know is that I’m ready and I have a good sense of how Michael will help.

Given that many intel gurus are saying the Reval could happen at any time, I could find myself a new CEO at any time.

Moreover, I was speaking from the standpoint of being entitled as a customer. I was acting from entitlement. I’m the customer and I’m entitled to be served with despatch and respect. It’s my attitude that needs an overhaul.

I have to get that, as a CEO, I won’t get anywhere if I act from entitlement. Feel elevated after the Reval? Take the elevator to the basement, Michael says. (4)

I’m already in love with the divine qualities and the one in play here is humility. This valuable lesson is showing me the benefits of choosing humility rather than entitlement.

***

So I’m saying to myself,  my planned-for future position requires me to make changes. The way I’ve been all my life will no longer cut it. I have to become, first of all, a lot more conscious than I am.

(Notice me actually making changes in the way I be, changes that, if successful, will go far to removing me from the cycle of conflict I create around me.  Change has to come from a deep level or it won’t stick. The sting of this encounter was enough to have me reach that level, act, and make changes.)

I can’t be offending the people around me or not caring what they think. Resisting need not be offensive; neither should rescuing nor protecting be. The very best among us, like Gandhi, were not offensive as they resisted or protected.

I continue talking to myself: I can’t afford to have an enterprise that serves the Divine Mother sink because I haven’t handled my vasanas (or core issues). And chief among them is “Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes!” That won’t work any more, if it ever did. It is definitely old programming, a subject I’d like to look at later.

It may have been Mike Quinsey who warned us last week that our old programs won’t work any more. This was a brilliant demonstration of that.

I, who never kowtowed to anyone – gross exaggeration – am going to have to treat people respectfully, even kindly. I now need to call those qualities out of myself, something I’ve never been willing to do, for whatever reason.

Of course I can. It’s a matter of commitment. I don’t like the way I felt after this encounter and not liking it is enough, given other circumstances in my life, to have me change my vote and make other needed changes in support of it.

My working hypothesis is that it’s commitment to a change of behavior, to calling ourselves forth to alter our way of being that will allow us to escape the cycle of conflict.

But I AM Entitled

But I AM Entitled

By Steve Beckow

Posted on December 7, 2023

But I AM entitled!

I’m staring at this huge vein of entitlement that I have. White, male, college-educated, lives in a supposedly democratic country, on and on. I’m entitled.

You may say, well, just wake up. But it goes far deeper than the conscious mind.

I described these earlier as automatic behavior patterns that are habitual. They’re the precipitate of our core issues, or vasanas, the residue. (1)

It takes considerable concentration and commitment to catch ourselves acting one out. And even more to raise it to awareness, acknowledge it, and then stop acting on it.

One element of entitlement is complaining. I caught myself acting entitled at the drug store a few hours ago, when I shared that I’d purchased 40 batteries from Costco, whose best-before date was March 2025, and not one of the forty worked.

It wasn’t what I said. It was the sense of entitlement I felt below what I said. Following those instincts, one ends up a snob. Uhhhh…. I’d better check that one out!

***

The ultimate mystery here is that our society gets across the message, in movies and television, that no one likes a snob. And yet people choose to be snobbish.  And not just lords and ladies. Celebrities, financiers, academics, even doctors.

The only explanation for that that I can find, when I consult my own memory bank, is that snobbishness feels good.  Feeling important, feeling needed, feeling able all feel good. And we seek the pleasurable, feel-good feelings.

One of the themes of Eddie Murphy’s Coming to America was a young African prince, who had everything, and yet continually rose above temptation and saw beyond the ephemeral feel-good moment. Most of us have as many temptations we yield to as some people have bottles of liquor. We’re entitled. We don’t rise above temptation. We cater to it.

I haven’t risen above temptation, I say snacking on a bowl of chocolate ice cream. I’m not detached. I give in to the temptation to consider myself entitled to respect, good service, a reliable product, whatever.

And I attempt to force my will on the other person … and predictably everything goes off the rails. And I look stupid. And I eat crow.

But I do it again and again. Just a bit better at it. Until I don’t.

Arrogance, self-righteousness, privilege all feel good. Hermann Goering, before his execution, said, “Oh well. I had twelve good years.” Can you imagine? He felt good by  and while murdering millions. That’s how deeply some people want to feel good, to enjoy themselves on a purely physical level (possessions, experiences, adventures), no matter how many people they harm. Unrestrained pleasure-seeking.

Our desire to feel good, to enjoy ourselves, to feel pleasure, if we don’t weigh it against our reasons for being here, sends us off on one “scenic detour” after another.  And then we … OK, I … wonder why I’m ineffectual.

***

Entitlement is constrictive, constraining, densifying. It’s insulting to the person we’re being entitled with. It invites short-term resistance and long-term karma. It has no relationship to love, which is on a different plane of consciousness. (2)

I really have to get so sick of it and myself for going that route that I stop the minute I catch a whiff of it.

Or laugh about it. Or love it and apologize to it for giving it such a miserable assignment. Or ask the Mother to repurpose the energy. I could do a hundred things.

Of them all, the one that moves me to action is realizing that very soon I’ll be a CEO and it’ll be harder with all that wealth to do the work needed to end this behavior pattern.

My sense of entitlement could mushroom.  And what used to hold me back will in large measure be absent. Things then will very much depend on which wolf I feed.

Do it now. Don’t play with your future and that of a lot of others. Do the work while it’s still manageable….

Old Money Changing the World & How I Can’t Post This on Facebook In Canada Now

Old Money Changing the World & How I Can’t Post This on Facebook In Canada Now

By Kathleen Mary Willis

The original, of which this is an excerpt, is long but worthwhile. Facebook’s refusal to post this article is discussed below.

What Should You Do With an Oil Fortune?

By Andrew Marantz, The New Yorker, August 7th, 2023

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/08/14/what-should-you-do-with-an-oil-fortune

The Hunt family owns one of the largest private oil companies in the country. Leah Hunt-Hendrix funds social movements that want to end the use of fossil fuels.

Let’s say you were born into a legacy that is, you have come to believe, ruining the world.

What can you do?

You could be paralyzed with guilt.

You could run away from your legacy, turn inward, cultivate your garden.

If you have a lot of money, you could give it away a bit at a time—enough to assuage your conscience, and your annual tax burden, but not enough to hamper your life style—and only to causes (libraries, museums, one or both political parties) that would not make anyone close to you too uncomfortable.

Or you could just give it all away—to a blind trust, to the first person you pass on the sidewalk—which would be admirable: a grand gesture of renunciation in exchange for moral purity.

But, if you believe that the world is being ruined by structural causes, you will have done little to challenge those structures.

When Leah Hunt-Hendrix was an undergraduate at Duke, in the early two-thousands, she wasn’t sure what to do with her privilege.

She had grown up in an apartment on Fifth Avenue, and spent most summers in Dallas with her wealthy churchgoing grandmother. …

After graduating, Hunt-Hendrix entered an interdisciplinary doctorate program at Princeton called Religion, Ethics, and Politics. (“In my mind, those are three ways of saying the same thing,” she said.) Two of her main advisers were Cornel West—one of the best-known public intellectuals in the country, always ready to support a labor strike or a socialist candidate—and Jeffrey Stout, who was about to publish “Blessed Are the Organized: Grassroots Democracy in America.” (The book posited that the U.S. seemed to function “as a plutocracy,” and that the way out was to help organizers build power “from the bottom up.”)

She took a leave from grad school in 2009 and spent a year teaching English in a small Egyptian city, then another year studying Arabic in Damascus. In Tunisia, she later wrote, she met organizers who “talked about the role of oil companies”—the major public ones, in this case—executing land grabs and “violence against activists who were part of the resistance to fossil fuel extraction.” On a trip to the West Bank, she heard residents’ stories of abject suffering and, moved by compassion and guilt, asked what she could do to help. But many people told her: We don’t want your help, we want your solidarity.

When she came back to Princeton, she proposed a dissertation on the intellectual history of solidarity. (“Vast, interdisciplinary topic,” West told me. “We knew she’d pull it off, but she exceeded our expectations.”) She could spend her life giving money to those in need, she concluded, but charity would only change things at the margins; to help uproot structural inequality, she would have to invest in social movements.

Hunt-Hendrix is now forty and splits her time between New York and Washington, D.C., where she has become a nexus of the New New Left, in frequent contact with street organizers and also several members of Congress.

A few times, I saw someone recognize Hunt-Hendrix in passing—Representative Ro Khanna, leaving a progressive centimillionaire’s holiday party in Greenwich Village; a Teamsters organizer at a rally of UPS workers in Canarsie—and ask her, “What is it you do again?” Each time, she struggled to give a concise answer.

Basically, she is a philanthropist, though she is reluctant to use the word, given her skepticism toward much of what passes for philanthropy. She donates money to leftist social movements, and she leverages her connections to persuade other rich people to do the same. She gave early funding to Black Lives Matter activists, and to the long-shot primary campaigns of members of the Squad. Since 2017, through her organization Way to Win, she has helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for left-populist politicians—not quite Bloomberg or Koch money, but significantly more than is usually associated with the far left.

“She has better politics than anyone else who’s that rich, and she’s better at fund-raising than anyone else with her politics,” Max Berger, who worked on Elizabeth Warren’s Presidential campaign in 2020, told me. “Whatever you want to call my faction—the Bernie wing, the Warren wing, democratic-socialist, social democrat—we would have way less power if Leah didn’t exist.” If the faction had enough power to enact its full agenda, many of the richest people in the country would likely lose money and influence; a centerpiece of the agenda is the Green New Deal, which, if implemented in maximalist form, could help put fossil-fuel companies, including Hunt Oil, out of business. “Leah was clearly preoccupied with how a person of extreme privilege can live responsibly in the world,” Stout told me. “That seemed to be, for her, an existential question.”

By 2020, according to Forbes, the Hunts had slipped from the richest American family to the eighteenth-richest, worth more than fifteen billion dollars. …

Helen rebelled against expectations when she was a young adult, in the late sixties, by moving to New York; she later grew close to Abigail Disney and Gloria Steinem, and funnelled much of her share of the family fortune into the second-wave feminist movement. …

“Everyone in this family, in one way or another, wants to change the world,” Helen said. …

Hunt-Hendrix, Lehman, and a half-dozen other participants, most of them wealthy, started to meet up informally, over home-cooked meals at Leah’s apartment. Some referred to themselves as “one-per-centers for the ninety-nine per cent,” or, semi-ironically, as “class traitors.”

Most of them, including Hunt-Hendrix, were members of Resource Generation, which was a group for young progressives who had money but felt ambivalent about it. Lehman used family money to buy a dairy farm in upstate New York and turn it into a retreat center for organizers. Farhad Ebrahimi, whose father is a software billionaire, had a sixty-five-million-dollar bank account that he controlled outright; he committed to donating all of it to leftist activists, within the next decade. Most of Hunt-Hendrix’s family money, by contrast, came at the discretion of her parents.

Staying Calm and Focused in a Busy World

Staying Calm and Focused in a Busy World

By Steve Beckow

Posted on July 7, 2023

Hah! There’s a world out there!

For me, this will be the biggest challenge in the weeks and months ahead: How to stay calm, untriggered, not angry and get my work done in a world that will progressively be closing in on me. CEO, pipeline, person with friends….

For an awareness writer and a virtual hermit, what may come down the pike looks like the opposite of heaven. It’s more like Val-hell-a.

And yet I’ll have to make a transition at some point and my life will become around seeing people and having meetings.

(Panic.) I have no role models! OK, yes, I do. Even here, I’ve been given some good experience.

I had a boss who was an everyday buddha. My brother was the same.  I had a home room teacher who was inspiring and filled with enthusiasm. A history professor who was fair and compassionate.

OK, in my memory bank, I have some folks to emulate. I’ve kept myself cooped up all these years. And it’s been productive, but, as the Reval looms, I know I need to add another gear to my gear shift. It’s called “being sociable” or, at its worst, “getting along.”

It’s early morning. This is prime writing time for me and a friend wants to get together for coffee and “some exciting news.” This is the first of countless opportunities for me to switch gears and “be sociable.”

Before long, as if to help me with my transition, I have a total of three friends all wanting to get together in what is for me prime writing time.

What do I choose? To stay with my writing discipline or take care of my friends. I see this as an opportunity to do both.

I give one friend an hour of patient and interested listening and combine the other two, whom I meet outside for breakfast.

All goes well and I am buried in writing as well, as you can see. Heaven obligingly gave me that gentle introduction to a total life makeover.

***

How can I help build a world that works for everyone when I’ll be walking into a situation which, ordinarily, for me would be the definition of unworkable?

“Leave me alone. I’m writing!” I’d be nattering to myself. What do I want to be in meetings for? I’m not a meeting person. At the most I prefer one-on-one. What do I care for a walk on the beach? Where’s my laptop? Etc., etc.

And then I’d be in love and bliss writing.

This is a major makeover of my life and what’s involved is just starting to make itself felt. It’s being brought about by my expanding realization of what’s expected of me after the Reval (plus 90-day vacation).

And it won’t be the last “phase” of things. After this comes interfacing between our star family and … you the readers.  Explaining what they’re here to do, how they want to work with us, what life is like for them, and so on.

I’m more than ready, as I’m sure you are too.

Life in the army is mostly waiting.  And so is ours. The army uses it to prepare. And so will I.

Co-Creative Partners with the Company of Heaven

Co-Creative Partners with the Company of Heaven

By Steve Beckow

Posted on June 12, 2023

I’ve just had a paradigmatic breakthrough. (1) As you read this, perhaps remember the breakthrough process.  Breakthrough is preceded by increasingly-uncomfortable and ever-building cognitive dissonance or inner conflict. Finally we have a moment when the dissonance becomes too great. We throw the paradigm aside and look newly.

Often this can be during a spiritual experience, which allows us to see things from a higher vantage point, where answers are more obvious.

Sometimes it means taking a stand on ourselves and transcending the limitations we’ve imposed on ourselves.

And sometimes, as with me today, it means dropping resistance to an idea and assuming personal responsibility for the new role.

It was only yesterday that I joked about having a “Compelling Thought.” (2)

Today I had one.

A thought Michael (3) first implanted in my mind in 2011 passed from a mere idea to a realization, a “get,” a conscious awareness. Put another way, it passed from the intellectual to the realizational level.  (4)

Well, what was “it” I got?

I got that I signed on before birth to consciously be one of Michael’s co-creative partners in the area of communication (5) – and more recently finance – and that that entailed certain responsibilities and disciplines that I hadn’t even considered till now. (6)

I got this on a personal and not a general level. Michael put the matter clearly:

Archangel Michael: Well, sweet angels, there is still a need for people, whether you are earth-keeper or portal, wayshower or starseed, there will always be need for people, individuals, and groups, who will step forward and say, I can do that. I can take the lead because this is within the realm of my competence.

I understand what is required. I am ready, willing, able, excited, interested, enthusiastic to do this. (7)

This exactly describes part of the process I went through to emerge “owning” my co-creative partnership with Michael.

I can do this. This is within my realm of competence, when you look back on all I’ve written.

I’m ready, willing, able, and excited.

I experienced a moment of seeing clearly what I had agreed to and reaffirming my agreement. I “owned” the co-creative partnership. I’m no longer a victim of it (Oh, I have to do this; apparently I agreed to it), but a co-creator and owner of it.

Michael explains that the Mighty Ones are in co-creative partnership with everyone, but only work with some:

Archangel Michael: We are in this sacred partnership. Are we [archangels] in partnership with every being on the planet? Yes. But it is difficult when you are in a partnership and the other person does not realize it. So we are working with those who realize we are in partnership. And so that is why we are having these conversations. (8)

So there’s the reason we’re having these readings: Because we can work in partnership consciously, with the underlying hope that I’ll write on “partnership” to encourage others. Which I’m doing!

We’re role modelling, me not overly consciously, but him by design.

And I’m not saying this gives me added benefits. I’m saying it gives me added responsibilities. I love how he put the matter:

Archangel Michael: As you assume profile – whether it is because of money or notoriety or political power or financial power, it matters not – it gives you a sense of being elevated. We would encourage you to take the elevator to the basement.   (9)

If that statement offends you, try it on. Test it out. See if it fits. If it does, own it. That’s personal responsibility.

Thus, the whole matter became real for me today. I’m in the Army now, Ma, the Blue Army. Reporting for duty. I handed myself my commission.

I say this without necessarily feeling I have a good grasp of any of it. No recent recruit knows the ropes. Nor do I.

You heard Michael acknowledge that the same partnership is available to everyone on the planet. Jump aboard! Assert your co-creative partnership with your archangel now.

What I hear in my inner ear is the word “partnership,” underlined. In 2020, Michael predicted:

Archangel Michael: As things are shifting, as the, shall we call it, new awareness, heightened awareness, interdimensional reality – because that is truly what we are talking about – as this truly anchors, not only in the heart, but in the thought patterns, the behaviour patterns of human beings, the idea of working with an Archangel is in fact going to be commonplace.

This sense of division is going to actually quite quickly disappear. The idea of a punishing deity that you need to earn favour with, curry favour with will change into the true knowing of what has always been the case, which is partnership. (10)

Joining “stewardship” as a paradigm of post-Reval humanitarian philanthropy is “partnership” as a new paradigm of our work with the Company of Heaven.
