The Missing Link Between Deep Sleep and Divine Purpose
The Missing Link Between Deep Sleep and Divine Purpose
By Monica Le Baron
Post on September 20, 2025
Our ability to follow our divine purpose is directly linked to how well-rested we are. A sleep expert and yoga therapist offers wisdom.
These past two weeks have been highly stressful and frustrating for me. It has been hard to regulate my nervous system and get a good night’s sleep despite having an extensive yoga therapy practice and sleep coaching toolkit. And what’s been more alarming is that regardless of who I talk to, everyone seems to be in the same boat: trying to keep it together while feeling depleted and overwhelmed.
As a collective, we are grieving. Rapid change and uncertainty can have a negative impact on our health, emotional well-being, and quality of sleep. And to make matters worse, who do we turn to for support when we are all struggling in the same way?
In hard times, our beauty sleep and our spiritual connection to one another are more important than ever. Yet, it’s during hard times when they both tend to decline. This is because we are missing the link between deep sleep and divine purpose.
Insomnia: A Global Epidemic
Not being able to get a good night’s sleep is a common issue. Sadly, sleep problems plague up to 45 percent of the world’s population. This means that nearly half of your friends, family, or coworkers are silently battling sleep issues.
Sleep is crucial for maintaining good health, a high quality of life, and enough energy to fulfill your inner calling. If you’re having trouble sleeping, this might be a sign that you are holding unprocessed emotions, experiencing fear, or feeling a lack of control or doubt regarding your path.
The next time you are wide awake in bed, instead of feeling frustrated, ask yourself: What’s not in alignment in my life right now?
When working with my clients, I often notice their tendency to prioritize care for others at the expense of their own needs (sleep, personal care, and rest). They feel that they don’t deserve to take time for themselves and struggle to shake off the guilt of spending time, energy, or money on themselves, even though they rarely do.

Your Divine Purpose
When you feel content and that life flows easily, your thoughts, actions, and beliefs are likely in alignment.
Being in alignment with your divine purpose will look different for you in every state of your life. That’s why it’s so important to be connected and listen to the cues your body, mind, and soul are sending.
I see many people who are out of alignment with their souls’ desires, living instead in coulds and shoulds and trying to fulfill someone else’s destiny. They become depressed, anxious, resentful, and sick. I was one of those people.
In her book The Ambition Trap, Amina AlTai discusses something she calls the resentment line. Living below the resentment line means that your energy is either being drained or is nonexistent; that your efforts are coming at the cost of your joy and identity. This pattern urgently signals that it’s time to pause, recalibrate, or reset.
I was secretly resentful for years—at my partner, friends, family, and especially myself. For years, this resentment kept me depressed, sad, unmotivated, and deeply ashamed.
On the other hand, living above the resentment line, according to AlTai, can energize you and make you feel aligned with the things that matter to you. Only you know where this line is; you have to be honest with yourself and listen to your instincts, especially in turbulent times.

The Missing Piece
There is an often overlooked link between struggling to get your beauty sleep and identifying a clear vision for your divine purpose. People take for granted the positive ripple effect of loving and nurturing the most important relationship they will ever have, a relationship that needs to be prioritized, cultivated, and polished: a relationship with themselves.
You can be deeply devoted and connected to your higher power, but if you don’t love yourself, you will never be able to take action toward your divine purpose. You won’t dare set boundaries to protect your energy, sleep, and well-being. You will always confuse self-sacrifice with being in service.
You can practice yoga, pray, and finish the stress cycle every day, but if you don’t have a healthy relationship with yourself, deep down you will feel numb, empty, and “not enough.”
Self-love requires courage to prioritize your sleep—to nurture, love, and honor your feelings and needs. The only person who can give you that love and attention is yourself.
After working with my clients for a period of time, I begin to hear them say that “they’re nicer to themselves”—and, naturally, they get deeper sleep and look younger and happier. They come to me in search of better sleep, and they leave with so much more, including a healthier relationship with themselves.
I remember when I used to weep every time I saw myself in the mirror. I didn’t like the person I had become. Crying all the time, feeling sorry for herself, and being in physical and emotional pain.
I knew something needed to change, so I started small. I began accepting compliments, going on self-love dates, and mustering up the courage to go to therapy to help with my insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that I don’t need perfect health or a perfect life to enjoy myself. I just need to be consistent and take care of myself first to be able to help others. Ten years later, I’ve never felt so in love with myself. I’m happy, healthy, and proud of the healing work I’ve done.

Your Journey, Your Compass
You are one of a kind—a living miracle. If you wake up in the middle of the night and you’re breathing, you have so much to be grateful for. Allow yourself to live your divine purpose as a joyful journey and not as a painful sacrifice.
Allow your self-love and inner guidance to be your compass—the deepest, purest, and most sacred guidance. This is how deep sleep comes easily. Not because it is earned, but because it is your birthright.
As I finish writing this article, I’m in my hotel room listening to the waves of the ocean. Even though I’m having the worst menstrual cramps I’ve had in years, my heart is full of gratitude because I took five days to relax, reconnect with my inner purpose, and go for sunrise walks alongside the most beautiful beach in the world.
If I hadn’t listened to my soul’s calling for “vitamin sea,” I wouldn’t have bought my flights, booked a hotel, or invited a friend to join me. I would have been frustrated in my apartment instead of enjoying this view.
I know that taking time off to travel to your favorite spot is not possible for everyone. But when you love yourself so much that you make yourself a priority, things fall into place in the most miraculous ways.
Trust your process, and love yourself a little extra today.

What Does It Mean to Love Yourself?
What Does It Mean to Love Yourself?

Intro to Repost 2
This is my third time posting this article because the subject is so germane, so important.
How many people know how to love themselves? A hand over there. One over there.
And yet it’s one of the most important subjects I can think of. But let me write an accompanying article – a part 2, for tomorrow – and go into the subject in more detail.
Intro to Repost 1
I was about to write the article that follows, when I saw that I’d already written it. And written it in almost the same way I was going to write it again.
Great minds think alike. Take both of mine. Please.
I’m posting it again because I consider the most urgent problem we as individuals and lightworkers face today, amidst all the chaos, is now and will always be to love ourselves.
As lightworkers, in my view, we’re here to love as we do our specific assignments. I know for myself that I’m in no condition to love others until I feel filled enough with love myself – I’m talking about real love; not what passed for it in the Third Dimension.
Sending love when I’m not “feeling it” would be like a water main that isn’t working properly and is giving only a trickle. So it’s a prerequisite, in my books, for lightworkers to know at least one way of loving ourselves, whether doing the exercise has ignited the fire yet or not.
Thus, actually knowing how to love ourselves – something I never knew or would have guessed until shown (1) – is for me of the highest priority.
What Does It Mean to Love Yourself?

Digger asks:
“Do you love yourself?
“What is it to love yourself?” (2)
And I’m at the back of the class, waving my hand in the air. “Ask me, teach. Ask me.”
May I? Thanks, Digger.
For me, it means something very particular.
Before I knew what love was (prior to a heart opening on March 13, 2015), if you’d have said to me, love yourself, I’d have been stumped.
I’d wonder if loving myself required doing anything. I’d approach it very logically, like preparing for summer camp. I’d make a list of things I need to do to love myself.
Change my diet. Exercise. Get more sleep.
Does loving myself require effort, push, shove, and so on? Does it require commitment? On and on I’d go, eliminating one thing after another.
Looking back, I now see that everything I was doing was only having the effect of tiring me out until I gave them all up. By then, I’d forgotten why I was doing them. (Does this process sound familiar?)
***
On March 13, 2015, my heart burst open, and I actually found myself immersed in a tsunami of love, to use Linda Dillon’s term. (3) OMG. THIS is what all the saints are praising. THIS is what they’re giving up everything for.
Fast forward to the present: Even if my heart door is open much less now compared to 2015, I can still experience the love flowing up from my heart when I breathe it up.
_______________
Stop the camera.
Love flows. (4) And the most convenient place for us to tap into its copious flow is through the door of the heart (the hridayam). On the other side, which is higher-dimensional, love flows in a river and that river itself flows to the sea – the Ocean of Love (7th Dimensional), which I’ve also been gifted to experience. (5)
OK, roll the camera again.
_______________
I can take that love from my heart and swish it around my body and my field of awareness. Doing that has me feel tremendously revived.
I don’t want to exaggerate. I’m not somehow “saved” or “redeemed” (i.e., ascended); (6) just perceptibly restored and uplifted.
I maintain that this very process is what’s being invited when the sages say “love yourself.” Draw the love up from your own heart with your inbreath and wash yourself with it on your outbreath. I believe Mary Magdalene is offering a version of this here:
“Do you realize that this tool of Love can be wielded with utter power and abandon [Steve: on yourself], knowing that with every swipe of it, you become more whole, more entrenched in your divine nature — more whole within all your aspects, and more capable of absorbing and integrating all parts and aspects of you, multidimensionally, as well as with all aspects of Christ Consciousness/God Consciousness?” (7)
Whoa, boy! Sign me up!
But we have to actually do what she recommends.
Of course your “divine nature” is pure and innocent already.
“More whole” for me means that purity and innocence is more revealed, more uncovered, more freed from our overburden – our vasanas or core issues. (8)
Baptize yourself with this love: This is the real River Jordan.
Imagine doing this with yourself. At first you may get nothing, but each time you do it you’re priming the pump.
Thanks for asking the question, Digger.

Time to Love Yourself

There is a misconception, however, that we wish to clear up. We are not simply teaching “positive thinking” but “high vibrational tuning.” These two can coincide, but sometimes, what you call “positive thinking” is really a mask for feeling terrible. While others in your life might believe that your smile and sunny disposition indicate a positive vibration, those who are sensitive among you (and most of you on this list are), understand that your vibration will always tell the truth.
So, we are not encouraging what you might call “fake positivity.” When you’re sad, grieving, or angry, it is often nearly impossible to suddenly switch to a vibration of bliss unless you’ve truly mastered your thoughts. Even the spiritual masters on your planet—all of them—fall into the depths from time to time. There is no need to be hard upon yourself when you know you are in a lower vibration.
Instead, choose to love yourself.
Choose to love yourself and have compassion for yourself when you are sad.
Choose to love yourself and have compassion for yourself when you are angry.
Choose to love yourself and have compassion for yourself when you feel jealous, insecure, or afraid.
While these vibrations will not allow the ideal things you desire to flow into your life, love will. Choosing in a moment of lower vibration to give yourself a hug and say to yourself something sweet, “It’s ok to be human. It’s ok to be sad. It’s ok to be upset. It’s ok to be afraid. It’s ok to be jealous… and so forth” will always move your vibration up a little higher. Love is the way out of a lower vibration, dear ones. Start by loving yourselves.
Of course you don’t want to abide in these difficult vibrations. You don’t want to feed the fire of anger with thoughts when you can focus elsewhere. You don’t want to drive yourself deeper into sadness by focusing on all that is not there or not working in your life. You don’t want to feed the fires of jealousy by focusing on who or what you are jealous of. But you do want to love yourself through these moments, days, weeks, or years because when you can truly offer yourself love and compassion, you are already starting to rise above these painful vibrations.
Think of a little child. If that child were fearful, angry, or sad, would you reprimand them for their feelings, or—beautiful, loving beings that you are—wouldn’t you rather hug them, hold them, soothe them, and love them, until the tougher emotions pass through? Like a storm that must rage until its energy is released, there are times when you cannot easily find a higher vibration, so you must let yourself storm, rain, or stew while simply choosing to love yourself through it.
You have been taught to judge yourselves. You have even taken our words at times to mean you must be positive all the time. There are no “shoulds” in the heavens. There is no judgment. There is only unconditional love, acceptance, compassion, and an unwavering focus on who you truly are.
Even in your depths, we see and hold steady in our focus of your light.
Even in your hatred, we see what you love beneath it.
Even in your jealousy we see your sincere desire to create more.
In your deepest grief, we see the pearls and diamonds of your love reaching for connection.
You are made of this Love, dear ones. You are One with it. You feel good when in a flow of love and bad when you are not. You are not right or wrong, good or bad. You are simply aligned with love or not, and your life experience shifts based on the degree of alignment.
So when you feel unloving or unloved, turn inward and choose to love yourself, for any love is the One love, and all Love will always return you to your truest, deepest self.
God Bless You! We love you so very much.
The Angels.

Love Yourself: But What Does It Mean?
Love Yourself:
But What Does It Mean?
By Steve Beckow

How much time over my seven plus decades have I given over to trying to find out what it means to “love yourself.”
What did it mean? Pamper yourself? Hug yourself?
I won’t bore you with all the combinations and permutations of actions, thoughts and feelings I believed went into this operation called “loving yourself.”
In the end it was a piece of cake.
After our hearts are opened, as they will be as a result of the Ring of Fire or planetary heart opening, (1) it’s possible thereafter to breathe love up from the heart.
And of course I’m talking about higher-dimensional, transformative, or transfigurative love, which transforms the circumstances rather than being modified by them. (2)
I can breathe love up from my heart and send it out to the world and I do get value from it. But if I take that same love as it’s coming up and direct it to swirl around my field of awareness, and swirl, and swirl, and then go out to the world, it multiplies its benefit to me.
This love is tangible; it isn’t a case of sitting here imagining I’m sending love out but not being sure if I’m having success. No, I can feel this love arise from my heart and swirl around my field – actually feel it. And it feels marvellous, better than anything else in the material world that I can think of. Restorative, uplifting, reassuring.
That, I assert, is one very simple meaning of “love yourself.” Of course language being built of symbols, upon which meaning is freely and arbitrarily bestowed, anyone can make “love yourself” mean anything.
This is the meaning I prefer.
