“The Creator Son, in the flesh, revealed God to men; the Spirit of Truth, in the heart, reveals the Creator Son to men. [. . .] When Jesus was on earth, he lived his life as one personality — Jesus of Nazareth. As the indwelling spirit of the “new teacher,” the Master has, since Pentecost, been able to live his life anew in the experience of every truth-taught believer.” [UB 194:3.1]

Thought Adjuster: “The day of Pentecost marked the onset of a divine intervention of great magnitude. Humankind was blessed with the threefold bestowal of the indwelling presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And it is still ongoing. They bring back into their loving fold their scattered flock in great need of their shepherdship.

Can you grasp the positive impact that such precious individual gifts can have on your life? Have you gratefully acknowledged by letting them work their magic within you? “[The term] “baptism of the spirit,” which came into such general use about this time, merely signified the conscious reception of this gift of the Spirit of Truth and the personal acknowledgment of this new spiritual power as an augmentation of all spiritual influences previously experienced by God-knowing souls.” [UB, 194:2.10]

The Father will never infringe on your free will prerogative but one thing has been made crystal clear by Jesus whose spirit now indwells you as the Spirit of Truth: “Ask and you shall receive.”

“Worship is intended to anticipate the better life ahead and then to reflect these new spiritual significances back onto the life which now is. Prayer is spiritually sustaining, but worship is divinely creative.” [UB, 143:7.5]

Thought Adjuster: “Jesus established lasting foundations for the kingdom of heaven on Earth. He understood that it could only emerge through the visionary powers of open hearts — the human heart plugging itself into the First Source and Center to be infused with and quickened by the sublimely motivational love flow.

The acts of prayer and worship have been erroneously considered synonyms even though Jesus unequivocally differentiated them during the evening conference he held on Mount Gerizim. “Prayer is self-reminding — sublime thinking; worship is self-forgetting — superthinking. Worship is effortless attention, true and ideal soul rest, a form of restful spiritual exertion.” [UB, 143:7.7]

As you can infer from his statement, the dividends of a worshipful attitude immensely add to those yielded by sincere prayers. Both originate from your emotional core. Prayers intercede for your or others’ welfare — asking that basic needs be met. “Worship is the technique of looking to the One for the inspiration of service to the many. Worship is the yardstick which measures the extent of the soul’s detachment from the material universe and its” simultaneous and secure attachment to the spiritual realities of all creation.” [UB 143:7.6]

Jesus KNEW this by personal experience. His life was one of prayer, worship, and higher service. It is how, as a full-fledged human being, he graduated to the very divinity to which all awakened souls aspire. He was not boasting when he affirmed to be the way. What are you waiting for to follow in his resolute footsteps?”

Thought Adjuster: “Your peers may be in awe of your financial or intellectual exploits. Yet, because you are foremost spiritual beings having a human experience, the accumulation of ungodly wealth and dizzying fame is not the criterion by which your life review will be conducted once you depart the world of the flesh. You will be evaluated by the maturity of your character — the only enduring possession you will take with you.

“The career of a God-seeking man may prove to be a great success in the light of eternity, even though the whole temporal-life enterprise may appear as an overwhelming failure, provided each life failure yielded the culture of wisdom and spirit achievement. Do not make the mistake of confusing knowledge, culture, and wisdom. They are related in life, but they represent vastly differing spirit values; wisdom ever dominates knowledge and always glorifies culture.” [UB, 160:4.16]

This statement sheds a different light on human life, turning the stings of failure into spiritual assets. Indeed, if handled correctly, setbacks are great catalysts for character development and the acquirement of street smarts. If you gleaned practical wisdom, aren’t you better off?

“Defeat is the true mirror in which you may honestly view your real self.” [UB, 156:5.17] The same could be said about success. The way you handle your good fortune tells a lot about you. Do you boast about it, or do you address humble gratitude to The One to Whom you owe everything? Just as failures can be blessings in disguise, successes can morph into curses.

Successful individuals lay both the painstakingly harvested pearls of wisdom and the shining gems of truth, beauty, and goodness on their altar of heartfelt gratitude for the divine Goldsmith to fashion into stunning adornments.”
