The Importance of Letting Go of the Expectations You Place on Others

The Importance of Letting Go of the Expectations You Place on Others

By Diane Kathrine

Posted on March 1, 2026

For Sensitive people, especially Empaths, having expectations of others often feels like part of the package. We believe people should treat one another with fairness and respect. We imagine how someone should respond, how they should care, how they should show up, and how they should treat others, because this is how we naturally behave ourselves.

But not everyone experiences the world with the same depth of feeling.

And that’s where the pain begins.

When you feel deeply, things that might roll off someone else’s back can cut you at your core. A careless comment. A missed call. A lack of acknowledgment. These moments can linger for days or even weeks. What feels small to someone else can feel profoundly personal to you.

To make matters worse, Sensitive people are often labelled as “overly sensitive” when they dare to voice how something affected them. Or, instead of speaking up, they stay quiet, worrying their feelings will be misunderstood or dismissed.

When someone lets us down or fails to show up in the way we hoped, it can feel deeply personal, even when it isn’t. And the result is a cycle of disappointment, hurt, and stress. Over time, that emotional strain can affect not only mental well-being but physical health too.

This is why learning to let go of expectations is so important.

Not because we should expect less.

Not because we don’t deserve care.

But because holding tight to expectations often hurts us more than it helps.

Why Expectations Hurt So Much

Expectations often lead to disappointment, not necessarily because people are unkind, but because they are different. They have their own emotional capacities, blind spots, histories, and limitations. Even when they care, they may not know how to express it in the way we would.

The gap between what we expected and what actually happens can become unbearably heavy.

Sensitive people often turn that disappointment inward. We question ourselves. We wonder if we weren’t enough. If we asked for too much. If we misunderstood.

But more often than not, someone’s inability to meet our expectations is not a reflection of our worth. It is simply a reflection of who they are.

We cannot control other people’s emotional awareness.

We cannot control how deeply they feel.

We cannot control how they show up.

And trying to control outcomes, reactions, conversations, or relationships creates constant tension, like holding your breath without realising it.

Letting Go Doesn’t Mean Caring Less

Letting go of expectations does not mean lowering your standards.

It does not mean accepting poor treatment.

And it certainly does not mean silencing your needs.

It means allowing people to be who they are, rather than who you hoped they would be.

Acceptance is essential for emotional well-being. And acceptance isn’t giving up, it’s seeing clearly. It’s allowing relationships to exist as they truly are instead of forcing them into a version we imagined.

The Hard Truth

Yes, most people are doing the best they can with the emotional tools they have.

But it is also true that some people are selfish. Some lack empathy. Some will never reflect on their behaviour or see the impact of their actions.

And no matter how carefully you explain, how gently you communicate, or how much effort you give, they may never change.

That is not your failure.

That is your lesson.

Sometimes letting go of expectations also means letting go of the need to fix, convince, or rescue.

Emotional Freedom

Releasing expectations is an act of emotional freedom.

It doesn’t close your heart, it protects it.

When you stop waiting for others to match your effort, to read your mind, or to offer the same level of care you give, you free yourself from constant disappointment. You stop handing your happiness over to someone else’s behaviour.

Expectations are often attempts to control uncertainty. But control rarely brings peace, it usually creates more anxiety.

When you release expectations:

  • You feel lighter.
  • You feel less resentful.
  • You feel more grounded in yourself.
  • You stop internalising every perceived slight.

People may even surprise you, because without rigid expectations, you leave room for authenticity instead of performance.

A Practice. Not a One-Time Decision

Letting go isn’t something you decide once and master forever.

  • It takes awareness.
  • It takes repetition.
  • It takes compassion for yourself when old patterns return.

Some days it will feel easy.

Other days, disappointment will creep back in.

That’s okay. Growth is never linear.

What matters is remembering this truth:

You do not need to control everything to be okay.

For Sensitive people, this isn’t just self-care, it’s self-protection. It’s removing the quiet permission you may have unknowingly given others to dictate your emotional state.

When you let go of expectations, you reclaim your peace.

You reclaim your emotional energy and you reclaim your freedom. And that is more than worth the work.

I hope this helps on your journey.

Until next time,

Diane

A New Financial Era Prioritizing the Emergence of a New Abundance System

A New Financial Era Prioritizing the Emergence of a New Abundance System

Posted by Steve Beckow on May 31, 2025

In 2017, an executive order signed on March 9 marked a quiet yet powerful turning point in the evolution of global financial systems. Far from the spotlight of mainstream media, this decree laid the foundation for a profound transformation, aimed at freeing humanity from opaque and restrictive financial structures to pave the way for an economy of abundance, aligned with principles of transparency, fairness, and cooperation.

This decree, known as Executive Order 13772, was not merely an administrative directive. It carried a bold vision: to modernize the American—and by extension, global—financial system by ending centralized control mechanisms.

It called for more efficient transactions, broader access to capital for all, resilience against financial disruptions, alignment with economic growth, increased transparency, and enhanced global competitiveness. This was a first step toward dismantling outdated systems, such as SWIFT and banking cartels, which have long restricted the free flow of resources.

An Infrastructure for the Future

In parallel, financial technologies like Ripple (XRP) and Stellar (XLM) began aligning with this vision. These initiatives are not mere technological projects but pillars of a new global financial architecture. Ripple joined fast-payment working groups, expanded its network to hundreds of financial institutions, and collaborated with international organizations. Stellar, meanwhile, partnered with humanitarian initiatives and global agencies, preparing for a transition to smoother and more accessible cross-border transfers. Both systems adopted the ISO 20022 standard, a key step toward integrating the future global banking standard.

These movements are not coincidental. Between 2017 and 2025, a series of strategic events paved the way for this transition: the expansion of financial networks in 2018 and 2019, public discussions on central bank digital currencies in 2020, and the gradual rollout of the ISO 20022 standard starting in 2022. These steps reflect a coherent, precisely orchestrated plan to replace old systems with fairer and more transparent mechanisms.

A Silent Transformation

This transformation does not rely on flashy announcements or sudden upheavals. It unfolds discreetly, through incremental adjustments and a reorientation of collective energies. Digital assets compliant with ISO 20022, such as XRP, XLM, XDC, HBAR, and certain stablecoins, are at the heart of this transition.

Unlike speculative cryptocurrencies, these tools are designed to support a stable, fast, and accessible global infrastructure, freeing resources from the constraints of outdated systems like Nostro/Vostro accounts or traditional foreign exchange markets.

Legal challenges, such as the lawsuit against Ripple in 2020, did not hinder this momentum. On the contrary, they helped clarify regulatory frameworks, strengthening the legitimacy of these technologies. During this period, Ripple continued to expand its influence, forging partnerships in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East while developing solutions for liquidity and digital asset custody.

Toward an Economy of Unity and Abundance

This movement is not limited to financial reform. It is part of a broader vision of humanity liberated from paradigms of scarcity and control. The new financial technologies, by replacing obsolete systems, enable a fluid circulation of resources aligned with principles of fairness and cooperation. They do not seek to impose a new order but to reflect a collective consciousness awakening to abundance.

This transition invites every individual to participate in creating a world where resources are no longer hoarded out of fear but shared in a spirit of generosity. The old structures, rooted in centralization and limitation, are gradually fading, giving way to a system where access to energy, wealth, and connection becomes a natural flow, serving all.

A Call to Collective Consciousness

This change is not the work of a single figure or institution. It relies on the collective consciousness and each person’s ability to align with values of clarity, fairness, and cooperation. By choosing to live from a space of trust and unity, every individual helps anchor this new reality. Financial technologies like XRP and XLM are merely tools in service of this vision, bridges to a world where abundance is no longer a quest but a given.

This plan, initiated years ago, is not behind schedule. It is unfolding with precision, in calm and harmony. It is not about rushing toward a hypothetical future but recognizing that this future is already taking root, through every conscious choice and every action aligned with inner truth.

Strengtheners of Good Character

Strengtheners of Good Character

Teacher Prolotheos

Is The Teacher

Through Valdir Soares

Akashic Construct - 11:11 Spirit Guardians

Chicago, US of A, October 5, 2014.

Teacher Prolotheos: “You are primarily responsible for who and what you are. Early in life – between the ages of 5 and 6 – the human character develops, but only with maturity does it become truly sound. Good and bad influences certainly count, but decisions are the major factor. Character reflects some unique, unchangeable, and innate personality traits, but it also shows some changeable characteristics of the Self, formed through life’s decisions. Personal decisions can make a character good or bad, but good decisions spring from good principles. Honor your good principles, and they will honor you. Let’s take a look at some principles that strengthen a good character.

“Sincerity. Objective truth may many times be out of reach, but sincerity makes you truthful to yourself. Sincerity, unaided by love, is nothing more than a way to throw your ego or temper upon others, regardless of the consequences. Sincerity is to be honest, authentic, truthful with words and actions. Sincerity is a personal moral effort towards truth. Evil is never sincere because truth is incompatible with evil, since it springs from deceit, error and falsehood. Sincerity can be mistaken about content, but must be truthful in its intent – goodness. Hypocrisy will damage your character, but sincerity will make it reliable.

“Fairness. When on Urantia your Master said, ‘You will be judged with the measure you have judged others’ and ‘Treat others as you would like to be treated.’ God is our supreme example of fairness because ‘He is no respecter of persons.’ He perfectly consider all factors involved and renders a perfect judgment. To you, in your present spiritual development, He says, ‘Treat others as you would like to be treated.’ Practicing the Golden Rule strengthens your character with loving consideration of others, because a good and strong character strives for fairness in all dealings to its best knowledge.

“Goodness. Love is basically expressed by goodness. Goodness is the main strength of character, because love never causes harm. Rather, love always seeks the ultimate well-being of the loved ones. To help make your character strong, goodness cannot be seen as an option, it must be your passion. A character built with love refuses to consciously practice evil and always insists on making good. Goodness cannot simply be a strategic move. More than being politically correct, it strives for being divinely good, following the paramount examples of our Creator Son. Goodness is indeed the indispensable ingredient of a ‘good character’.

“Therefore, my pupil, the virtues of a strong character are also the virtues with which the Spirit Within will strengthen and grow your soul. Those are the values that will remain with you throughout your morontia and spiritual careers, even for eternity. Equally important, these values will make your life on Urantia worth living, with a clear conscience of striving for the best and showing it to the best of your ability. They will not make you perfect, only eminently sincere, fair and good – which is what is needed. This is from Prolotheos, your celestial teacher. Peace to you all.”

Fairness: A Standard to Live By (2013)

Fairness: A Standard to Live By (2013)

By Steve Beckow

The scales of balance, fairness, justice

Given yesterday’s discussion of fairness and the importance of having an agreed-upon set of principles to steer by, let me add an earlier discussion to the “social principles” mix. Hmmmm…. That’d make a good book….

August 9, 2013

The arrival of the global currency reset, the prosperity packages, etc., when they come, will mark the first step in the eventual arrival of G/NESARA. (1)

Before that time arrives, I’d like to establish a few terms as elements of common discourse between us.

No term would be more valuable to establish than a common notion of “fairness.”  Let me explain why.

After the first wave of of what is eventually to become global prosperity hits us, there’ll be increased activity, increased felt need, and increased complexity in our lives.  I predict that the impact of the reval alone will reverberate throughout the lightworker community.

At least that’s my opinion from where I sit.

And I believe that we’ll need common standards to provide an agreed-upon floor below which we won’t allow our conduct and discourse to go.

I recommend fairness as that common standard.

Fairness occupies a special place in my heart. Let me first state my notion of fairness and then relate the events that made it such an important concept to me.

Fairness for me means an equitable arrangement, one that is seen and felt to be equitable by all parties.

My respect for fairness as a standard of conduct stems from the last job I had before I “retired.” (Wry laugh.)

I was tasked with deciding the fate of people claiming to be refugees to my country.  I fell in love with the notion of fairness that prevailed in the Canadian legal community at that time and bound all judges and adjudicators.

When I first contemplated stepping into that hearing room and representing the Canadian people to the person before me – representing their compassion, humaneness, and justice – I was completely captivated. I so wanted that job. Member of the Immigration and Refugee Board. Mmmm…. Wanted it.

When I got it and before I entered the hearing room for the first time, my wife gave me a small set of brass scales (shown above).   In my mind, I used to put that set of scales between me and the claimant and later between me and anyone. I made it a point of always looking through the filter of fairness that that set of scales represented for me.

In my hearing room, all parties – claimant, translator, claimant’s lawyer, IRB lawyer, federal courts, the people of Canada – had to see what emerged as fair to all.

I had to be equitable to all and to be seen to be equitable to all.

Everything that transpired needed to be clearly stated and on the record. Any ruling or decision was itself reviewable by the federal courts. In those days they were honest; I hope they still are.

My biggest discovery during those years was that life in such complex surroundings became simple for me when I surrendered to fairness.

Fairness did not need to look a certain way. It wasn’t just fairness to whites or fairness to Christians or fairness to men. It was universally applicable.

If my predominant concern was fairness, I could not go wrong even if I went wrong. There was never any discrimination to protest – perhaps a mistake.

I looked upon fairness as being our anchor, our lifeline in a storm. Was the discussion fair? Was the decision fair to all parties?

I can’t tell you what a growth-oriented experience that job was for me. I learned as much as anybody from it.  It was the busiest job I ever had, but also the most challenging and satisfying.

OK. To return to us, that’s how it could be for us as a lightworker community as well. We too could embrace fairness in all our dealings and communications.

I look forward to having the kind of mature, adult conversations that the prospect of the arrival of a modicum of ease will make possible for us, conversations that we wouldn’t mind recording and allowing to be adjudged by our peers.

To do so, I highly recommend that we have between us an agreed-upon standard to which we can refer all matters of disagreement and dispute and I recommend that that standard be fairness.
