Secret Struggle

Secret Struggle

The Creator Writings

By Jennifer Farley

Post on January 27, 2026

It has been said before but, you are being asked to remember that each person on your Earth plane carries a secret struggle. Some have been working very diligently to release it and others have not recognized it yet.

Criticism and judgment hinder the process, love and empathy assists. Regardless of where they are on this very personal journey, each deserves compassionate kindness so they can continue to move forward.

Be aware and, in that awareness, foster gentleness… the greatest gift you can offer.

When Your Mind Can’t Let Go

When Your Mind Can’t Let Go

By Leo Babauta | Source

Posted on January 18, 2025

Sometimes your mind can get fixated on something, and it just won’t let go. For some people, this happens a lot — sometimes more than they realize.

How can you tell if your mind won’t let go of something? Some signs:

  • You won’t let go of an argument
  • You’re known for always wanting to be right
  • You replay conversations in your mind, arguing internally
  • You stew over an offense for a long time
  • You hold grudges
  • You get frustrated a lot because things aren’t the way you like them
  • People get tired of you complaining or being frustrated by the same things over and over
  • You regret things strongly, and wish you could go back and redo key moments of your life
  • You can’t forgive yourself for things you’ve done

A mind that fixates is a human thing, but if you’re unable to let go, your mind becomes more and more rigid.

And this can affect your relationships, your ability to focus on the present moment, and your happiness.

I’m not saying that this tendency to fixate the mind is a bad thing. There’s a strength to it, a protectiveness, a fire. But what if you want to have a more fluid mind, and let go? Maybe for a bit of peace of mind?

Let’s look at how to let go.

Why the Mind Fixates

Let’s start with why the mind fixates on something in the first place. Let’s assume it’s not because the mind hates your happiness, or is dumb.

The mind desires things the way it wants things to be — and that desire is completely natural. We want things the way we like them. The fixation comes when we get strongly attached to things being the way we want them to be.

Why would we become strongly attached? Because of fear — we’re afraid that if things aren’t the way we want them to be, then we won’t be OK.

For example:

  • If I’m wrong about an argument, then my fear might be that people will think I’m dumb
  • If I don’t defend myself against someone else’s criticism, then my fear might be that I’m not a good person (or won’t be seen as a good person)
  • If I don’t hold on to a grudge or resentment, then my fear might be that people will just walk all over me and disrespect me
  • If I am frustrated about things not being the way I want them, then my fear might be that if thing aren’t that way, I won’t have control over a scary situation

Do any of these sound familiar? Your mind’s fear might be in one of those. Or maybe there’s another fear — but it’s likely to be a fear that you won’t be OK for some reason.

How to Let Go

Knowing why our minds fixate — because of fear — might help us to understand how we can start to let go.

We have to first simply acknowledge the fear. We’re afraid we won’t be OK. That’s an understandable fear to have! It’s totally OK to have that fear, and to have a mind that’s fixated because of it.

Next, we might ask, “What does my fear need, in order to feel that I’ll be OK?” The first reaction might be: “I need things to be the way I want them to be!” Which is, of course, the belief underlying the mind’s tendency to attachment.

But what if you didn’t need things to be that way, in order to be OK? What if you could trust that you’ll be OK no matter how things turn out? See if you can imagine yourself being OK, even if you’re not right about things, even if someone thinks bad things about you, even if you do something embarrassing, even if things aren’t just the way you want them to be?

If you can believe in that … then what would your fear need to feel that you’ll be OK? For me, I simply need a deeper breath, a little presence, and a little love.

Then I don’t need for things to be any way.

How to Practice Letting Go

Let’s take all of that and put it into practice:

  1. Notice when your mind is fixated. This will usually be accompanied by frustration, or an inability to let go of an argument or offense. And tightness in your body and mind. If all you do is notice this, you’ll be making huge progress.
  2. Pause and acknowledge the fear. Breathe for a moment. Notice that your fear that you won’t be OK is causing you to be attached and tight. Notice that it’s frustrating you. Now simply acknowledge the fear, breathe, give it some presence and love.
  3. Remind yourself that you’ll be OK no matter what. Start to develop a deep trust in your OK-ness, by reminding yourself that being right, or being offended, or having things your way … aren’t required for you to be OK. You can be OK no matter how things turn out. Trust in that.
  4. Now let go. Breathe, and acknowledge that you could be wrong. Acknowledge that the other person might have had good intentions. Acknowledge that you don’t need things to be your way. Forgive the other person, or yourself. Feel how loving and open this is.

I don’t expect each of these steps to be easy. That’s OK, we don’t have to be attached to doing it right! Just practice. See what happens, with a mind that’s curious.

And then see what might happen if you let your mind release, and be fluid. See what kind of openness might come.

with love,

Leo Babauta

Mind of God

Mind of God

By Adama of Telos

Greetings, Beloved Ones.

We are most joyous to connect with you here, today, and we send you our utmost Love from the heart of Telos.

Beloved One, as you are moving through your ascension journey, you will become more and more aware of the difference between your two minds.

One mind is the Ego Mind, which is trying to keep you in the Illusion.

The Illusion is lack, fear, judgement, criticism, bondage, anger, pain and so forth…

These thoughts of the Ego Mind are directed towards yourself and your world.

The other mind is The Mind Of God, which is calling you home, where only Peace, Love, Oneness and eternal Life exists.

As you are awakening from the dream of Illusion, the difference of these thoughts will become more and more clear.

This will allow you to choose between your thoughts and thus, direct the stream of your awareness towards one mind or the other.

Since the Ego Mind exists in the shadows and doesn’t want to be seen, there is assistance for you available to make it come out of the shadows.

This assistance is the Holy Spirit, the voice for God.

The Holy Spirit resides in your Mind of God to help you come home.

You might have had nudging toward better choices in your life…

That was the gentle way of the Holy Spirit helping you.

The Holy Spirit is the bridge between you and God.

Now that you know about the Holy Spirit, you can ask for more and more guidance.

You will begin to have new thoughts, different thoughts and sometimes hear a new voice within your mind.

These are the beginnings of your conscious connection to the Holy Spirit.

Begin to ask, listen and follow throughout your daily life. (even with little things.)

There will be more and more opportunities to either listen to the Ego Mind or to the Holy Spirit.

The choice is yours. Always.

We champion your victory in the Light!

Welcome Home!

We send you all so much love…

You are carried on the wings of Angels, to bring forth The New Earth.

Know in your cw heart, that you are always surrounded by your Angels, Ascended Masters, Guides, Galactic Families of Light and yes, also by your family and friends in Telos – and always will be.

Dear Ones, we are walking with you on this journey and you are loved beyond measure – always.

I am your brother Adama of Telos.

Old energies fall out of alignment with the higher frequencies of ascension energy

Old energies fall out of alignment with the higher frequencies of ascension energy

Dear friends, we welcome you to our message.

During these times of personal and global turmoil many of you are finding it difficult to stay centered but at the same time easy to slip into worry, concern, judgement, criticism, and fear. This usually happens when socializing with co-workers, family, friends, and even through the impersonal voices of the media. You may find yourself looking back on some social event that seemed to go very well and suddenly realize that you had fully aligned with the three dimensional thinking and opinions of those around you.

This does not mean you have spiritually failed or must leave group discussions but rather means learning to keep a part of yourself aligned with truth at all times. Your presence can boost a group's energy because one with God is a majority. Toss a seed of truth into these conversations now and then and simply practice knowing that those who live from fear, judgement, and criticism are spiritual beings hypnotized by beliefs of duality, separation, and two powers. There may be instances when you are guided to simply walk away and you will know.

Fear causes people from all levels of life to say things that may or may not be true in order to get others to agree with them because it provides a sense of security and credibility to know that one is not alone in the beliefs they have long considered to be absolute and "right" but which now are being questioned by increasingly more individuals.

Earth is an extremely difficult school and not for the "faint-hearted" because most of earth's appearances and experiences testify to duality, separation, and two powers. However, spiritual evolution is never solely dependent on personal choice but rather is governed by a person's Higher Self (the SELF that has never forgotten who it is). Every person has a Higher Self that determines when they are ready for their next level of awakening and the experiences necessary to achieving it.

Those who graduate from "earth school" are able to live lives that reflect the higher energies of a consciousness of oneness while living in third dimensional density and are well qualified to assist others to do the same.

Much of what is presently familiar and has come to be accepted as normal everyday life on earth will continue to change as old energies fall out of alignment with the higher frequencies of ascension energy. Always remember that the Divine realities that underlie everything on earth remain forever intact. It is only the material sense of these things can die or disappear and their reality will at some point manifest again in forms reflective of the new and higher frequencies.

Resistance acts as a block to spiritual evolution because resistance gives reality and energy to appearances. Resistance is the ego's way of keeping you safe because the human mind relies on what is already known and familiar while drawing from the collective. When you feel resistance to some aspect of truth ask yourself; " What am I believing that is making me feel this way? Is it true?" Many spiritual concepts once held to be absolute truth are now being questioned and let go of by awakening individuals who then frequently experience criticism and judgement from others unable to see beyond the conditioning of religious doctrine and practice.

It is often the case that those closest to you, those you love and want to help are simply unable to accept what you know. Forgive and let go of those dear to you who are unable hear, understand, or come with you in spiritual awareness. Always remember that every person has a Higher self and Guides helping them traverse their spiritual journey which may very well require more learning experiences before they are ready for the higher truths.

Allow the process dear ones, allow the process. Spend time in nature, in quiet and going within more often. This is not isolating yourself in the material sense but rather allows you to stay centered in the fullness and oneness within--reality in times of so much unreality.

Those choosing to be on their phones 24/7 or feel that they must be constantly listening to the outer world in some way will not hear the the guidance of their intuition. The need for constant distraction is a perfect example of seeking outside of self for comfort and fulfillment. The still small voice within is always speaking but cannot and will never be heard by those too busy listening to the three dimensional world.

The belief that "saints" and certain people are more blessed and loved by God than others will fall away as increasingly more individuals awaken to the fact that God/Divine consciousness is manifesting ITs fullness as every individual. All life is the one and only Life, all intelligence is the one and only Intelligence, every mind is Divine Mind, and every consciousness is Divine Consciousness individualized regardless of what each person chooses to dream.

Throughout the centuries and even today there have been and are true spiritual masters who incarnated in order to serve and assist humans awaken as well as to seed earth's collective consciousness with truth. However, some of those who have been declared "saints" according to three dimensional standards of spirituality were actually living from three dimensional consciousness--performing rites and rituals, acting 'holy", and preaching concepts considered to be spiritual by those who believe in a faraway God.

Negative physical, emotional, or mental issues are never personal and this is also true for the "good" qualities a person may be expressing. Humans in and of themselves do not have love, forgiveness, gratitude, patience etc. etc. to give because these things are, always have been, and always will be God qualities flowing through humans but never from them.

The state of every person's consciousness is what allows or blocks the qualities of God fully present within every person from flowing through. The love and service that many declared "saints" expressed while on earth was not theirs personally. No "saint" was more special or blessed by God than any other person. Rather, their state of consciousness allowed the God qualities within to express more fully.

Living in a convent, monastery, or ashram does not make a person "holy" simply because one's state of consciousness goes wherever a person goes. Those who spend their life focusing on three dimensional concepts of what constitutes holiness (outer signs and emotions) can and often do manifest some of these religious concepts simply because as God individualized, they create them. Never forget that psychic does not necessarily mean spiritual.

Release any remaining concepts you may have accumulated with regard to what constitutes spirituality. As a part of your evolutionary journey you have all lived lives in convents, monasteries, and/or ashrams where you seriously took vows. It is important at this time to state your intention to clear all past vows, promises, commitments, and contracts. Vows of poverty, chastity, obedience or even sincerely saying to someone in a past life; "I will love you forever" can remain active throughout lifetimes until cleared because these activities were usually done with serious intent allowing them to remain active, affecting many lives.

Silently and secretly be who you are.

11 Signs an Arrogant Person Is Actually Deeply Insecure

By Janey Davies, B.A. (Hons)

Posted on May 5, 2024

Have you ever met an arrogant person and thought they didn’t live up to their own hype? We typically associate arrogance with an inflated ego and a sense of superiority, but arrogance can also be a shield for insecurity.

We know there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance, but some people use arrogance as a shield to hide their feelings of inadequacy, as a defense mechanism to cover up low self-esteem and a front to disguise a lack of confidence.

Here are 11 signs an arrogant person is insecure.

1. Their default setting is attack

“Arrogance is the manifestation of weakness, the secret fear towards rivals.” ~ Fulton John Sheen

An insecure person will attack first and ask questions later because they need the element of surprise to disarm and confuse people. This deflects attention from themselves.

2. They are always bragging about themselves

“Arrogance needs advertising, confidence speaks for itself.” ~ Vitor Belfort

Confident people don’t need to bang on about their achievements; they know their actions speak for themselves. Insecure people who come across as arrogant use every opportunity to brag and boast. It’s a cover for their failings. Appearing more successful than they are draws scrutiny from their weaknesses.

3. They always put others down

“Arrogance is a self-defense tactic to disguise insecurities.” ~ Caroll Michels

As well as boasting about their achievements, arrogant people humiliate and insult others as a way of boosting their self-esteem. They like to gossip and create a situation of ‘them and us’. They believe that if someone else is being targeted, they won’t be.

4. They overcompensate for their shortcomings

“Arrogance really comes from insecurity, and in the end our feeling that we are bigger than others is really the flip side of our feeling that we are smaller than others.” ~ Desmond Tutu

Whether it’s the flash suit, the latest designer trainers, or a personalized number plate, an insecure, arrogant person will use anything they can to hide their lack of confidence.

5. They are a ‘know-it-all’

“You never really learn much from hearing yourself speak.” ~ George Clooney

No matter what you’re talking about, this person will always tell you what they would do. They’re the types that offer an opinion or advice to you without asking, but not because they’re confident, because they have to be seen to be on the ball.

6. They lash out at criticism

“Often those that criticize others reveal what he himself lacks.” ~ Shannon L. Alder

You can’t give an arrogant person who is insecure any kind of criticism (even though they are highly critical of others). They have fragile egos and if under attack, they’ll get personal, insulting your looks, your intelligence, your family and so on.

7. They force their opinions on others

“Knowledge and reason speak, arrogance and ignorance scream.” ~ Arturo Graf.

It’s true that he who shouts loudest gets the most attention, but it’s also a sign of insecurity cloaked in arrogance. These people are imposing, they speak loudly and don’t want to hear other opinions.

8. They always act busy (but they’re not)

“Problem with an old friend who is too busy: he always perceives you as if never changed.” ~ Toba Beta

Busy people are productive people. They have responsibilities and are in demand. They contribute to society. There’s nothing worse than a lazy person – that’s why insecure, arrogant people pretend they are busy.

9. They are intolerant of people’s differences

“None are more unjust in their judgments of others than those who have a high opinion of themselves.” ~ Charles Spurgeon

One sign an arrogant person is insecure is intolerance; particularly towards minorities. Arrogant people point out differences to raise their profile and standing. They boost their self-esteem by devaluing other people. Because they have low confidence, bashing others is one of the few ways they can feel superior.

10. They use backhanded compliments

“Arrogant people are insecure and often repel others. Truly confident people feel good about themselves and attract others to them." ~ Christie Hartman

Arrogant people like to think they’re smarter than the rest of us, so they use techniques like backhanded compliments to appear warm and friendly, but in fact, they’re getting one over on us. This passive-aggressive approach typifies insecure behavior.

11. Everything is a competition

“Insecure people only eclipse your sun because they’re jealous of your daylight and tired of their dark, starless nights.” ~ Shannon L. Alder

One-upmanship is a favorite tactic of the insecure, arrogant person. They must win at everything, whether it’s who has the better car or job or trivial things like who can eat the hottest curry or who has the best garden. Insecure types are always looking to prove they are the winners. It’s tiresome.

  • So why are some insecure people arrogant?
  • It’s a defense mechanism to fool others

Insecure people use arrogance as a defense. It’s like the mask narcissists put on to hide their true personality. Arrogance acts as protection. Arrogance is often mistaken for confidence, and it can fool others into thinking someone is superior.

It convinces themselves of their superiority

People with low self-esteem sometimes act arrogantly to convince themselves they are better than others. The louder they shout, the more they believe in the hype they’ve created.
It’s a coping strategy for life’s setbacks

An insecure person uses arrogance as a shield to hide their shortcomings, and so they use it to cope with life’s difficulties. Arrogance protects them from situations or feelings they’d rather not face. It’s a barrier against the world that lets them retreat behind, firing missiles in safety.

It’s protection against their fragile ego

People with robust egos can stand a little criticism now and then. People with fragile egos are defensive and prone to overreacting. They take any criticism as a personal attack and will lash out over the smallest perceived slight.

How to cope with an arrogant personUnderstand that arrogance comes from a place of insecurity. This person is unhappy with their life, which is why they’re bragging or lashing out.
  • Speak directly to the person if you feel they’re overstepped the mark or are being untruthful.
  • Know that you can’t change someone’s insecurity, but you can set boundaries and limit the time you spend with them.
  • Keep calm and act reasonably. An arrogant person will often use personal insults to attack others, causing them to lose their temper.

Final thoughts

Of course, not every arrogant person has low self-esteem or a fragile ego, but it’s interesting to think that arrogance comes from a place of insecurity. So, can you spot the arrogant, insecure person?

8 Things Emotional Vampires Do to Feed Off Your Energy

By Sherrie Hurd, A.A.

learning-mind.com

Posted on April 12, 2024

Emotional vampires are parasitic humans that drain empaths and other sympathetic types of individuals. You’ll know them by their patterns and habits. There are certain things emotional vampires do to feed off your energy.

If you thought vampires from books and movies were terrifying, there are worse things than those monsters. I’ve often said that physical ailments just can’t hold a candle to emotional pain. If you’ve ever encountered an emotional vampire, you might agree with me.

The emotional vampire brings anxiety, depression, and confusion, and worsens existing struggles, both physical and mental. Their arsenal of pain is pretty impressive.

Things emotional vampires do

If you aren’t familiar with emotional vampires, that’s fine. It took me years to understand this type of psychological warfare. And I am still learning the signs and how to deal with them effectively.

However, there are a few things I can share about emotional vampires and the things they do to feed off your energy. Check these out, make a list, and protect yourself… please.

1. Immobilization

When you’re affected by a toxic person such as this, you may feel immobilized. This means, for a little while, it may be difficult to separate from the emotions induced by their presence.

These strange feelings are similar to symptoms of anxiety or PTSD, including not being able to do things you enjoy, feeling frozen, or experiencing physical issues. Immobilization can leave you with your palms sweaty, heart racing, and nausea.

2. Competitiveness

Do you know what it means to “one-up” someone? This is one of the things emotional vampires do. Well, you see, energy-type vampires that prey on emotions will always try to do better than someone who’s just achieved something.

It’s not okay that you’ve won something or completed a difficult assignment (oh, no!). An emotional vampire must do better than you. It’s a way to keep you on a lower level so that they can feel superior.

3. Disorientation

The emotional vampire can leave you feeling disoriented after being with them. This type of drain is recognized by manipulative speech patterns. They will talk in circles, sounding as if they’re saying something very important.

In truth, they are weaving a web to confuse you, leaving you with more questions than answers. The real power behind this is the ability to convince you that you’ve confused yourself.

4. Criticism

Do me a favor and never ask a toxic person what they think about your latest article or painting. They will always find something wrong with it. And why, you might ask. Well, it’s just not okay for them if you do something awesome on your own. It’s never going to be okay, and I bet you’ll rarely hear the words: “Well done“.

5. Playing the victim

Emotional vampires attach themselves to you with their victimhood. When you offer advice or positive insight, they counter with “but” statements. Nothing is ever good enough to solve their presented problems, it seems.

And, the most unfortunate part of this situation is that you come away from them feeling drained, hence the vampire aspect. Yes, victims are real, but usually, they grow into survivors and push through. However, the emotional vampire would rather remain in victimhood to continue feeding. It serves a toxic satiation.

6. Controlling behavior

A person using toxic strategies will always make sure they are staying in control. This is true for the emotional blood-sucker as well. Control means being on top, being the priority, and being important.

And when one is in control, the other is a follower, or source of energy, in this situation. Retaining control makes sure that the energy supply is always available and ready, never seeing the truth of the dynamic.

7. Entitlement

Of course, emotional vampires are always entitled. This entitlement keeps sources of energy coming back to assist in some imaginary exchange.

Entitlement to this type of vampire means asserting importance, dominance, and relevance among friends, family, or intimate partners. Yes, an emotional vampire can thrive in intimate relationships because there’s a steady boost of reassurance.

8. Other forms of manipulation

There are many other forms of manipulation that an emotional vampire uses. These individuals are generally on the grandiose side of the narcissistic spectrum. They thrive on gaslighting, triangulation, and isolation of other people to gain energy.

Manipulation becomes such a woven part of their being that they rarely remove the façade to show their true character.
Emotional vampires are more than they seem

Emotional vampires are actually just forms of energy vampires. In fact, not only do they drain others of love and emotion, but they also cause great fatigue in the process.

If you feel tired and frustrated every time you deal with a certain person in your life, they may be an emotional vampire. It’s important to consider each of these points when making that assessment in your life.

And as with anything else, learning to deal with these toxic individuals can be daunting. Most of the time, distance is the only thing that will keep you safe from the toxic things emotional vampires do. Even family members can rank in this category, making it even more difficult to cope.

But here’s the thing: if you continue to work on yourself, building your self-worth and doing healthy introspection, then dealing with these individuals will be a much easier task.

I do hope if you are experiencing the struggles of dealing with an emotional vampire, that you can successfully find a solution. I wish you well.

About Intolerance

Thought Adjuster Is The Teacher

Message received by Oscar

Alabama, USA, March 27, 2014

Thought Adjuster: “Easily taking offense reveals a lack of self-appreciation, as well as an imbalance in assessing one's own importance. On one hand, those who take offense at the comments or even the teasing of their peers implicitly assume that there is some truth in these actions and seek by all means to prevent others – or even themselves – from realizing it. On the other hand, when you easily get upset by criticism or contradictions to your ideas, you become intolerant and assume that your position is correct, disregarding the ideas of others. Both attitudes are dangerous for your spiritual development, as they lead you to a place where you are unwilling to engage in the sincere self-examination necessary for the progressive achievement of perfection.

All attitudes of intolerance separate us from our peers. By nature, each human being is unique and original. It is absurd to pretend that everyone should think the same way or that they should approach the same situations with the same methods. Experience is very valuable to deity, and the only way to acquire all possible experience is through the original lives of all the ascending sons of God. The Father enjoys originality while loving each and every one of his universal children with equal fervor.

One of the most important lessons you must learn is to get along with your peers. This is a lesson for which you have abundant opportunities in this world. There is great variety among personalities on this planet, differentiated by culture, beliefs, level of progress, and the inherent originality in each personality bestowed by the Creator. Every day you will encounter multiple situations in which you must relate to others. Seize each of these opportunities to learn more about your peers and to see in them the Father who dwells within each of us.

Many of the problems of this world would disappear if its inhabitants made a sincere effort to understand each other. Stop forcefully resisting the apparent attacks that your peers wield against your ego. Instead, try to see their point of view and find opportunities to improve yourself. Behind every criticism lies the mark of a disagreement, a disharmony between personalities. Consider what you could do to get closer to those who apparently are against you. This is only possible through a sincere intention to ‘put yourself in their shoes’ and understand the grievances suffered by others.

Those who have progressed a bit in their journey of self-discovery and dedication to divine will are never offended by the things that happen in the world. They have implicitly accepted the brotherhood among human beings, and although some of their peers may seemingly attack them, they do so simply because they have not yet discovered in their experience the truth that we are all children of the same heavenly Father. Does an adult get offended by the thoughtless actions of a small child? It shouldn't, because the adult, with their maturity and experience, accepts that the little ones will act better when they achieve maturity. Likewise, spiritually mature adults view their brothers still spiritually immature with the same consideration and mercy that they themselves enjoyed during their spiritual childhood.”

If You Tolerate These 8 Behaviors, You Lack Self-Worth

If You Tolerate These 8 Behaviors, You Lack Self-Worth

By Sherrie Hurd, A.A.

learning-mind.com

Posted on March 3 2024

How do you know if you lack self-worth? Well, sometimes it’s obvious by all about the behaviors you tolerate. It’s time to do inventory, don’t you think?

Being a tolerant person is okay when you’re trying to understand another person and their perspective. But it reveals that you lack self-worth when you start tolerating all behavior. You see, it’s important to guard your mental health, and part of that is not tolerating certain behaviors that prove to be toxic.

Revealing your lack of self-worth

To gauge your most accurate level of self-worth, it’s important to recognize what behaviors you’re accepting from friends, family, and loved ones. This also applies to coworkers as well, as your work relationship can be toxic.

If you’re giving others control of your self-esteem, you’re devaluing yourself. Here are some behaviors you may tolerate which reveal that you lack self-worth.

1. Verbal abuse

If you allow someone to speak to you in any way they please, then what does that say about how you view yourself? If a partner yells and you just stand there and take it, then something is wrong. Could it be that you think you deserve such garbage? Well, you don’t, and if this is happening, then put a stop to it.

Hopefully, you can walk away when the verbal abuse starts. Maybe you can even rethink your relationship. With family and friends, this applies in the same way. Do not tolerate verbal abuse.

2. Compromising your needs

Are you always the one who sacrifices what you want for someone else’s interests? If so, you may tolerate their selfish or pushy behavior because you don’t think what you want matters as much. It’s all part of having that lack of self-worth.

The healthy way to go about this situation is to be assertive in what you want, showing that your needs are just as important as what someone else’s needs. Too much compromise can kill your dreams and your self-worth.

3. Disrespect

Tolerating disrespect reveals many things about yourself. First, it shows your lack of self-worth. It also reveals your inability to say “No”. Yes, sometimes when you go along with everything, it means you cannot set clear boundaries in your life.

Everyone needs healthy boundaries to understand what should and should not be tolerated. So, to begin, practice saying “no”, and then all the rest will fall in place. Disrespect includes behaviors such as lying, talking behind your back, and invading your privacy, just to name a few.

4. Negativity

We all have that one friend who’s constantly spreading negativity. And we may feel like it’s important to remain friends with them because maybe others will not.

Unfortunately, negativity spreads, and when we tolerate this influence in our lives, it shows that we lack basic self-worth. Although trying to be kind to negative people is good, it’s also okay to love them from a distance. It’s not our job to fix them, it’s our job to fix us.

5. Constant criticism

We lack self-worth if we allow constant criticism. It’s not okay to let others consistently degrade or belittle us or the things we do. While not everything we do may be good for us, constant criticism is worse.

So, to heal our unhealthy self-esteem, we must limit our time around those who always put us down somehow. We can appreciate the good things about ourselves.

6. Manipulation

Manipulation comes in many forms, including gaslighting. I mention gaslighting because it is an especially toxic and powerful tool to bring down a person’s sense of self. If you tolerate such behavior, you already have a lack of self-worth, and have probably fallen victim to multiple instances of gaslighting.

To break this pattern of manipulation, you may have to remove yourself from the people who do this to you to see the truth. You are worthy. Never think otherwise.

7. Controlling behavior

Allowing controlling behavior is saying that you don’t feel confident in making your own decisions. This will continue as long as you feel this way. Some people sense your lack of self-worth and they use this to control everything you do.

This could come from parents, partners, friends, and many other people in your life. Having control over another person is powerful, but taking back control of your own life is even more powerful.

8. Ignoring boundaries

If someone crosses your boundaries, and you don’t say something to them, then you may lack self-worth. Maybe this person, whether a friend or family, thinks they have a right to cross these boundaries.

For example, even if your partner touches you and you don’t want to be touched, that is also crossing boundaries. Most people in relationships don’t realize this. You must have a strong sense of self to recognize this and speak up.

Repairing your self-worth

I mentioned a few things you could do to stop tolerating inappropriate behavior, but there are so many other things you need to keep in mind. It doesn’t matter what others think about your needs, boundaries, choices, or preferences, they’re important.

If you feel uncomfortable, say something. If you feel extremely uncomfortable, leave the location if you have to. But make sure you assert your self-worth as long as you are in a safe location.

I know there are instances where you cannot say or do things for fear of being berated or possibly hurt, but when the time comes, do what you need to do. The main point is to protect your self-esteem, and one day you can break free from the behaviors that enslave you.

Go forth, be you, and be free.
