A Small Continuing Resolution Victory Could Have Big Consequences

A Small Continuing Resolution Victory Could Have Big Consequences

Federal spending is so out of control that it only took three months for the federal debt to increase by one trillion dollars to over 33 trillion dollars. In contrast, it took almost 200 years for the federal debt to reach one trillion dollars. So the federal government racked up more debt in the last three months than it did from the ratification of the US Constitution until Ronald Reagan’s first term! There will be even more shocking increases in the future since, according to some experts, federal debt is increasing by approximately 14 billion dollars a day.

Those tempted to blame the increase on President Biden, the Democratic Congress, or the covid-related spending spree, should consider the debt increased by around a trillion dollars a year in 2017 and 2018 — years when Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress...

An Alabama Wedding

An Alabama Wedding

Love, Mercy, and Southern Heat

I’ve been on a writing break for several weeks, and today is probably the first time I’ve even entertained a return to writing. Who has the mental space for writing amid college move-ins, back-to-school supply lists and—most glorious of all—a wedding?

August in the South is always a weird kind of heat. The sun is now packing its bags, beginning its slow retreat to the southern hemisphere, but its steamiest baggage remains. One may sweat more in August than in the first two summer months combined. Crickets sing all day to remind us that summer’s not over; they’re enjoying the quiet heat that has worn out its welcome with the rest of us. Yet we sense deliverance drawing near; shadows are lengthening, the sun’s rays are backing away, and dusk falls sooner on the fully cooked fields.

As Maui Burns, Biden Demands Another $24 Billion… For Ukraine!

As Maui Burns, Biden Demands Another $24 Billion… For Ukraine!

I am not a big fan of Federal Government disaster relief. Too much of the time the money never gets to those who need it most, and too often Washington’s armies of disaster “experts” are more interested in pushing people around than helping them.

Nevertheless, it’s hard to look at recent footage of the devastation in Maui and then hear President Biden tell Congress that he needs another $24 billion for Ukraine. How can this Administration continue to justify tens of billions of dollars for this losing war that is not in our interest while the rest of the United States disintegrates?

Biden’s new $24 billion request comes on top of well over $120 billion already spent to fight the US proxy war on Russia in Ukraine. Heritage Foundation budget expert Richard Stern has done the math and determined that Biden’s spending on the Ukraine war thus far will cost each and every American household $900. How many Americans would rather have those $900 dollars back in their pocket rather than in the pockets of Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, and Ukraine’s oligarchs?

‘Facebook Files’ Reveal Despicable Disregard for the Constitution

‘Facebook Files’ Reveal Despicable Disregard for the Constitution

Last week’s revelation that Facebook took orders from the Biden Administration to censor even accurate information about Covid is the latest example of the US government’s disregard for our Constitution. Thanks to Rep. Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, we now know the extent to which the Biden Administration went in its proxy war against the First Amendment.

Getting the information wasn’t easy. It was only after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was threatened with being held in contempt of Congress that he relented and shared information with the Judiciary Committee about Biden Administration pressure to censor Americans on Facebook who disagreed with White House policy on Covid. ...+ below
