Stepping Out of Your Story

Stepping Out of Your Story

By Neale Donald Walsch

Posted on June 15, 2025

My dear friends…

Each of us has a “story” that we’re living. It is the story that we tell ourselves (and others) about who we are and how we got to be this way and how we wish life to be from now on. Every time we get our feelings hurt, or find ourselves disappointed in something that someone else has done or said (or not done or not said), we are getting into our “story.” Every time we set ourselves up with expectations or requirements (of ourselves or others), we are getting into our “story.” Every time we find ourselves reacting and responding to another (or to ourselves) from a place of hurt or damage (real or perceived), we are getting into our “story.”

Our “story” can literally run our lives. Indeed, for most people it is the only thing that does. We come from our story when we face incoming data, and we go to our story when we send outgoing data. Take our “story” away and we all but disappear.

Here is a typical example of a “story”: Marilyn was eight years old when she was molested by her stepfather the first time. It happened again, until she turned 14, when it finally stopped, for reasons about which she was never clear. She kept her stepfather’s behavior a secret from her entire family, and especially her mother, until she was 16. Then, she quietly and tearfully took her mother aside and told her everything.

Her mother didn’t believe her.

Her mother called Marilyn a liar and a dirty little tramp who was just so angry at her stepfather for the rules he was laying down around the house that she was willing to stop at nothing, at no allegation or exaggeration, to hurt him, to get him out of the house and out of her life.

Marilyn has been “coming from” this “story” ever since. How this shows up in her life is a deep disregard and distrust of all males, and also as a continual wariness about confiding in or trusting anybody. She looks to all people who are close to her (that is, if she can even allow herself to get close to people) to betray her sooner or later, and this mars and terribly complicates her relationships with everyone.

She also feels and relives the damage from the original offense, and soothes the unhealed places in herself with various kinds of “acting out,” including drug and alcohol abuse and, ironically, a kind of sexual addiction that has her enter into all sorts of liaisons with men, allowing them to fall in love with her, only then to drop them like hot potatoes, leaving them reeling with hurt and anger — all as a “pay back” for their being “male.”

This is just an example. Everyone has a story they are coming from as they encounter the world. Some stories are more serious in their ramifications than others, but all stories play their effect on the day-to-day living of individual lives…until they don’t anymore.

The time comes when people simply decide that they no longer wish to identity themselves with their “story,” but now wish to “come from” a new set of data when they engage life itself. This process of “dropping their story” is not an easy one, but it can be done. It is a matter of stepping aside from the story and realizing that “that was then, and this is now.” It is a matter of actively choosing to never again mortgage a future moment to a past one.

The trick to stepping outside of your story is to drop the need for any story altogether. This could only occur if you were completely clear about Who You Are and Who You Choose to Be. You would have to understand that you are, indeed, a local manifestation of Divinity. You would have to understand that there is no disconnection between you and God. You would have to be aware that you are a Soul traveling through life with your body, but that you are not the body itself.

Once you identify yourself in this fashion you will easily see that there is nothing you need to be perfectly happy, completely at peace, and embracing always the joy and the wonder of your True Self. Then you will have no need to continue living inside of your story, because you will see clearly that it is bringing you emotional rewards and psychological content that you no longer need or require. This will create a huge shift in your ground of being and will alter your experience of life forever.

Home with God in a Life That Never Ends, says that death is a process of re-identification. It also says that one does not have to wait until death for this process to begin. You may undertake the process whenever you wish during your lifetime. The process starts with the dropping of your personal story. One reason that some people have great trouble in letting go of their past data is that they have created an entire persona around that data. Everyone thinks and assumes that this is “who they really are,” when, in truth, it has nothing to do with their True Identity at all.

Here is a little exercise that you might enjoy: start off tomorrow morning by entering your day as if you had no prior data about any aspect of your life whatsoever. Pretend that you know nothing about your past — especially any aspect of your past that you once perceived to have caused you injury or damage. Move through the day as if nothing that is happening Right Now has anything to do with anything that happened Before. Even if something that is occurring right in front of your face reminds you greatly of a previous encounter with life, ignore the Old Data and move forward through the present moment without judgment or any reaction to the prior experience. See if this is possible for you to do. If it is, you have learned Detachment, and that is a very good skill to acquire.

Every sunrise, indeed, every new moment of every day is truly a New Beginning in which you may, just as the book says, re-create yourself anew in the next grandest version of the greatest vision ever you held about who you are. You may begin life over again Right Now, and nothing is stopping you from doing that except yourself. The process is actually easier done than said!

With Love,

Speaking of Love

Speaking of Love

By Neale Donald Walsch

Posted on February 7, 2025

What is love, really?

People love to be in love. Yet “love” is a big word. It’s the biggest word in the language. Any language. So we have to ask…

What is love, really? Author M. Scott Peck says that love is a decision , not a reaction . It’s a choice, not a response. That may be one of the most important things anyone could ever say on the subject.

True love is never the result of how another person looks, behaves, or interacts with us. It is a choice to be loving no matter how that other looks, behaves or interacts.

This doesn’t mean that true love requires us to stay in a relationship that is abusive or that is no longer working or that’s not fulfilling. Do not confuse the words “love” and “relationship.” We are not proving that we love someone by staying in a relationship. Indeed, there are instances when we may be proving we love someone by leaving.

So it is not true that love demands that we love long after our own happiness has disappeared.

If a person is abusive to us, it is abusive to that person to allow their abuse to continue. For if we allow their abuse to continue, what do we teach them? Yet if we make it clear that the abuse in unacceptable, what then have they learned?

If we are no longer happy in a relationship, we confront one of the most important questions in life: Do we have a right to be happy?

The answer is, yes. To remain in a relationship in which you are no longer happy because “you said you would” only produces unhappiness all the way around. Maybe it’s time to get out.

Of course, it is true that no one can ever really “get out” of a relationship. We are always in relationship with each other, and the only thing that changes is the form the relationship takes.

You cannot end a relationship, you can only change it. So do not think in terms of ending your relationship, think in terms of changing it. You may wish to change its form , or you may wish to hold onto the form, but change its content.

Deciding to love someone – truly love them – is a very high choice. It is the mark of a master.

Loving someone as a “reaction” is a different kind of experience. It is the mark of a student.

The danger of loving someone as a reaction is that the one we love may change. In fact, it is certain that they will.

They may gain weight, or lose it. They may alter their personality. They may change their ideas about something important to us. And if we are in love with what others bring to us in relationship, we could be headed for enormous disappointment.

So we come to the second big truth about all this: love is not about what the other brings to you , it is about what you bring to the other. Indeed, the purpose of all love relationships is to provide us with an opportunity to decide and to declare, to announce and to express, to become and to fulfill, Who We Really Are.

This is perhaps another way of restating the first truth, because Who We Really Are is a choice, not a response. It is a decision, not a reaction – although it is true that most people think it is the other way around.

When I talk to young people about love, I tell them that there are two questions having to do with life and relationship that everyone would benefit from asking.

1. Where am I going?

2. Who’s going with me?

It is important to ask these in the right order. Many people switch them around – and suffer for it the rest of their lives.

First they ask, who is going with me in my life? Then they ask, where am I going? Often, the choice of destination is conditioned and compromised by the choice of companion. This can make for a very rough journey.

Recently a young woman in her twenties asked me, “What does it feel like to be in love?” I told her I could not answer for anyone else, but I know what it feels like to me. It feels like there is only one of us in the room.

When I am with my beloved other, it feels as if there is no place where “I” end and “she” begins. When I look into her eyes, it is like looking into my own. When I sense that she is sad, it is as if the sadness pierces my own heart. When she smiles, the heart of me smiles with her – as her.

I wish I could feel this way about everyone. That is what I am working toward. I am feeling it with more and more people very day.

A Course in Miracles says, “No special relationships.” In other words, no one person should be more special to us than another. That is how God experiences love. There is no condition, and no one is more special than another.

It is difficult for most people to understand that.   How can God love us all equally, the “good” and the “bad” alike? It is because God does not see any of us as “good” or “bad.” We are all perfect in God’s eyes, no matter how we are behaving. Human beings have a long way to go before they can claim that. Most of us place condition after condition on our love, and we are very fast to withdraw it when those conditions are not met.

So the third great truth about love is that it knows no conditions. There is no such thing as “I love you IF…” in God’s world.

The fourth great truth about love is that it knows no limitations . Love is freedom, experienced. Total and absolute freedom. And so one who loves another never seeks to restrict or limit that other in any way. This is a tough one for many people. For many, love translates, roughly, into “ownership.” Not that this is ever expressed, of course. It is simply felt. It is a felt sense of “you’re mine.”

Of course, in true love nothing could be further from the truth. And in true love, such ideas or thoughts are never part of the experience. No one owns anyone , and no one acts as if they do.

This has major implications, as one might imagine. So now I am going to list the fifth, and perhaps the most “controversial,” truth about love that I know.

Love never says no. Not to persons of equal maturity and intelligence. (We are not talking about children here. Let’s limit this discussion to adults.)

No matter what the request of the beloved, love says yes. This does not mean that personal opinions are not expressed, or personal preferences not announced. It means that, in the end, a request from the beloved is never denied. Who are we to deny anyone anything?

Again, that is difficult for many people to grapple with. Yet this is the way that God loves. I am fond of saying in my lectures and retreats that God has only one word in her vocabulary. God always says yes.

No matter what you want, no matter what you choose, he never says no.

This idea can be reduced to two-words: God allows.

I believe that the words “God” and “love” are interchangeable, you could then say, “love allows.”

In the end, that is what love does. Love allows. It never restricts, it never limits, it never stops, it only allows. In true love relationships, you get to have what you want.

The final truth about love is that it always renews itself. It never runs out. So make every day your wedding day in your heart. Even if you are not married. Because you are, you know. To everyone.   We are all One.

With Love,

Neale Donald Walsch

The Attitude of Gratitude

The Attitude of Gratitude

By Neale Donald Walsch

Posted on October 22, 2023

Each morning when I awaken I try to remember to say a little prayer. It is the same prayer that I have been saying to myself for many years now.

Thank you, God, for another day, and another chance to be my Highest Self. Thank you for this life and for the wonder of this moment. Thank you for everything that has ever happened to me, is happening now, and ever will happen. For all of it has produced the perfection of this next breath, and the glory of Who I Am now going to be. Amen, and amen.

It is good for me to begin each day with gratitude. And then, as I get into the shower, I break into song. Usually, Everything’s Goin’ My Way, which is, I believe, from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma! The lyrics are…

Oh, what a beautiful morning!
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I’ve got a wonderful feeling
everything’s goin’ my way…
Oh, what a beautiful day!

Then, when I get to the mirror to shave and comb my hair, I smile. That’s right, I throw a big smile at myself! Do know that you are physically unable to hold onto negative energy of any kind if you smile? Smiling disintegrates it. Do you know it’s impossible to remain grouchy if you sing? Singing disallows it! Do you know that you cannot express true anger when you are expressing true gratitude? The two are mutually exclusive.

Use this simple little formula and you will start off every day with a mindset that will change what occurs in the hours that follow. This is important to understand. What you experience in your life is a direct result of the energy you call in.

Here’s something else I try to do each morning that has profoundly affected my quality of life. I try to read or write something sacred and holy. Something meaningful and important. Something soft and warm and wonderful. Something about God and Life and Love, and how to experience all three at just the highest level ever. Then I put down my reading or writing and I take a moment to quietly forgive. I forgive everybody for everything. And I include myself in that forgiveness circle.

This is my five-step formula for opening each day:

  1. Gratitude
  2. Song
  3. Smile
  4. Sacred Nourishment
  5. Forgiveness

Not necessarily in that order. But touch all five if you can. If you do, I dare you to walk out of the bedroom in a dark space or a bad mood or in a grumpy state of mind. Dare you, dare you, double dare you! You can’t! You won’t! It’s impossible!

Now I want you to do two more things and your relationship with your Significant Other will become once again the territory for bliss and growth and love abounding that it was at the beginning and was meant to be always.

  1. Think of your Beloved Other, whoever is closest to you right now, and prepare a present for that person in your heart and mind, offering it to him or her before the day is out. One every day.
  2. Close each day with a recital to your Beloved: “What I am grateful to you for this day…”, and offer a verbal list of those items, describing each in detail.

Now I want you to do three final things each day and your whole life will change, not just your morning or your relationship.

  1. Move through your day knowing that you walk with God and that God walks with you, and that another human being is going to be coming to you this day for whom you will have a gift in your hands. You do not know what that gift is right now, but it doesn’t matter. You will know when God brings that person to you.
  2. Do something courageous and outrageous in the next 12 hours, and do one courageous/outrageous thing every day. Then reach out and get whatever life has to offer this day. Take it with gusto, for it is your gift from life!
  3. Be good to yourself this evening. Give yourself some small treat, whatever it may be, and pamper yourself in this way, saying “thanks” to you and to God for the wonderful experience of living fully this day.

This is my Ten Step Method for Achieving Daily Happiness. I don’t worry about setting long range goals or meeting daily objectives or driving projects forward and using my time wisely or any of those things we hear about from motivational speakers and success trainers. I just use Gratitude, Giving, Getting, and God – the Four G’s – as my pathway to fulfillment and joy, and they take me there every time.

With Pure Love,

Neale

The Days of the New Spirituality

The Days of the New Spirituality

By Neale Donald Walsch

Posted on July 13, 2023

My dear friends…

We are embarking on a period during which humanity will create a new understanding of who God is, and what God wants. You and I will be creating that together in the days and weeks, months and years just ahead.

These are the days of the New Spirituality, and they are already here. It is now just a question of the expansion of this energy. In the amazing book What God Wants I was told what we could look for during this time. I was particularly interested in the subject of death, because I believe that the fear of death, and of God’s possible wrath after death, is what creates so much dysfunction during our lives.

What God Wants says that when we have created our new understanding of God, in the days of the New Spirituality, humans will understand that death does not exist. They will know that our opportunity to learn and to grow is never over and that the time to be rewarded or punished for how we lived our lives will never come, because life is not a Reward & Punishment proposition, but rather, a process of continuous and unending growth, expansion, self-expression, self-creation, and self-fulfillment.

Death will be understood to be simply and only a transition—a glorious shifting in the experience of the soul, a change in our level of consciousness, a freedom-giving, pain-releasing, awareness-expanding breakthrough in the eternal process of evolution.

One result of this teaching: Many humans will know that death is not something to be feared, but a wonderful part of the wonderful experience called Life Itself.

People will talk about death freely and without undo sadness. People will not feel compelled to cling to life when they are suffering and dying, because they’ll know that there is nothing BUT life, and so there is no reason to cling to The Only Thing There Is. Endless suffering at the conclusion of one’s time in a particular physical form will no longer be demanded or required as a matter of spiritual integrity, any more than it’s required of other life forms. This does not mean that ending one’s own life as a means of escape from particular difficulties or sadness will be or is encouraged. It will be understood that life in one’s present physical form is a wondrous gift, and no one will ever wish to toss it away in order to sidestep its challenges, but will understand at the deepest level that it may be used in order to experience who we really are.

In this and in many other ways, personal lives will be remarkably different when humans create a new spirituality.

Imagine personal relationships with all others that are no longer need-based, but emerge more profoundly from an experience of personal fulfillment, personal power, and the personal expression of the highest thought about one’s self and others that resides within everyone!

Imagine romance that exudes not from the thought that you “can’t live without” someone, but from the awareness that the expression and experience of your fullest and highest and grandest Self is not dependent on any other person, but enriches every person whose life you touch immensely, allowing you to truly love from a place of giving!

Imagine a career and work that feels more like joy and the celebration of the highest and best within you, and the happiest experience of Who You Are!

Imagine a life without fear of God and without guilt over the tiniest infraction of what you imagine to be God’s Rules!

Imagine the freedom of soul and mind and body that would be experienced when you understand at last that you really are One with God! Imagine the power that you would experience—the power to create the life of your dreams, and to assist others in creating theirs!

Imagine the end to frustrations and anxieties and worries about tomorrow, to say nothing of the sadness and bad feelings that can’t seem to be shaken about things that happened yesterday, when you realize that nothing can go wrong, that all things are perfect just as they are, that God does not require anything different from you except exactly what you are being, exactly what you are doing, and exactly what you are having right now!

Finally, imagine experiencing the awe and wonder of life, expressing through you, AS you in your day-to-day moments, because of your wonderfully expanded awareness.

This is just a taste of what life could be like in the days of the new spirituality, and you don’t have to wait for all of humanity to create that experience collectively. All people can begin to create it individually for themselves, and in the lives of those whose lives they touch. That is, in fact, what life invites you to do!

It’s what God is calling you to do right now.

With Pure Love,

Neale Donald Walsch

The Brain’s Design; Why It Does Not Hold All the Data There Is

The Brain’s Design; Why It Does Not Hold All the Data There Is

By Neale Donald Walsch

Posted on July 18, 2025

Nothing is accidental in our universe. Nothing is a mistake or an unfortunate condition. This is what is meant by Intelligent Design. Everything that exists has emerged from Divine Intelligence. There is no conflict between Creationists and Evolutionists. Evolution is simply part of the Process of Creation, and all the conflict that seems to exist over the question of whether life ‘evolved’ or was ‘created’ seems to be “much ado about nothing.”

The human brain was designed (evolved) in a way that does not give it the capacity to hold all the data in the universe. That is not its design function. It is the design function of Consciousness to hold all the data in the universe. It is a design function of the brain to hold sufficient data to get through This Moment Now.

The brain is a mechanism and must not be confused with the Mind. The Mind is where Consciousness resides. It is one-third of the Three-Part Being that we are. Each of us is composed of three aspects or elements: Body, Mind, and Spirit. Consciousness resides in all three aspects.

The Body, the Mind, and the Spirit all hold all the data of the universe. Indeed, they are all the data of the universe, compressed into one location.

Did you hear that? Did you “get” that? Don’t just read right through that sentence and move on. Read it carefully, and consider its implications.

The Body, the Mind, and the Spirit all hold all the data of the universe. Indeed, they are all the data of the universe, compressed into one location.

Put into other words: The Being that you are is a microcosm of the macrocosm that we call the universe. Traditional theology says this yet another way: “You are made in the image and likeness of God.”

The words are more poetic, perhaps, but they mean precisely the same thing.

The brain is a mechanism uniquely designed to block from our present awareness all that the Body, Mind, and Spirit knows.

You may not have ever thought of it that way, but that is what is actually happening. That is the function of the brain.

The brain is a Data Filter and Organizer. It takes the data that flows to it through the extraordinary senses of the Body, through the unlimited vision of the Mind, and through the total awareness of the Spirit, then organizes it and filters it in a most unusual and efficient way…

First, it reduces the data to its countless component parts.

Second, it sorts those parts into categories, labeled Necessary and Unnecessary in the Present Moment, then eliminates all data deemed Unnecessary for comprehension of, or survival in, the Moment at Hand.

Third, it analyzes all data that it has deemed Necessary for the Moment at Hand and brings its analysis to your attention and your awareness. (These two are not the same thing. “Attention” allows you to notice something, “awareness” allows you to understand all of its implications. This is the difference between noticing and comprehending.)

Fourth, it separates our awareness into at least two parts. This is what makes it possible for one part of your brain to allow another part of your brain to “think about what you’re thinking about.” Part One of your Awareness analyzes and presents the Necessary Data, and Part Two considers the data being presented, reflects upon it, accesses other data previously stored by the brain (see below), and makes a decision about what it chooses to do in the Moment at Hand.

Fifth, it takes all the data that it deemed Necessary for the Present Moment, combines it with information on how that data was used, and stores it in its databank, in the form of what we call Memories. It calls upon this data in facilitating Future Moments.

The reason that the brain was designed to perform these functions is elegant. If the brain was simply a wide open receptor, a huge retainer of all the data that exists in the universe, it would be redundant and without separate purpose or function. As already noted, it is the purpose and function of Consciousness to retain all the data of the universe, not the purpose and function of the brain.

The purpose of the brain is to act as a mechanism with which we can use the limitless data of the universe, bit by bit. This broken-down data is utilized in the formulation of “reason” and the producing of “action”, through which we render ourselves capable of knowing and experiencing, expressing and fulfilling, becoming and expanding Who We Really Are.

In short, the brain is a tool — a magnificent, wondrous, extraordinary device — designed to intake, call up, analyze, and store the limitless data of the universe as it presents itself in any given moment, in order that Eternity may be experienced as Now, Everywhere may be experienced as Here, and Infinity may be experienced as This. Thus we can experience THIS, HERE and NOW. Thus we can discern discrete elements of, and encounters with, All That Is through an elegant mechanical process that allows All That Is to be known by Itself experientially.

Think of it this way: The brain acts as a dam on the flow of Consciousness. It creates power by conserving energy, holding it back and allowing it to flow in measured amounts.

Now when we experience a moment of expanded awareness, all that has happened is that we have immersed ourselves in the rushing waters of Everything, diving to the depths of Everywhere, and swimming in the currents of Infinity. In such moments you escape the boundaries of physicality, shifting your point of view from that of the brain to that of Consciousness, and expanding your awareness of the Ever Present Reality of God and of the True Nature of All That Is.

In such moments you have completed the journey, from Knowing to Experiencing to Knowing again, and reside in a pure State of Being, in which you both know and experience Who You Really Are.

And that is the Reason and the Reality: A brief explanation of Life and how it works.

But wait. There is more…next week, as we conclude this extended series of commentaries.

With Pure Love,

Neale Talks About God Not Caring

Neale Talks About God Not Caring

My dear friends…

I was in Tokyo some time back talking about God.

Incredible, wonderful, marvelous discussion. Three hundred-plus in the audience. Not a one of them looked bored, or “out of it.” Everybody was paying rapt attention. Many asked incisive, important questions.

At one point I was describing God in this way:

“God is not a Super Being in the Sky, with the same proclivities and emotional needs as human beings, including the need for love and for revenge when love is betrayed or not given. God is life’s Essential Energy. You might want to call that energy Pure Intelligence.

“Intelligence doesn’t care whether you believe in It or not. It doesn’t care whether you use It on purpose or not. If you do use It on purpose, It doesn’t care how. It makes no judgment about any of this. In fact, It makes no judgment about anything at all.

“Pure Intelligence wants nothing, needs nothing, seeks nothing. It simply Is. It exists in a way that allows Itself to be used. It does this, it allows this, it makes this possible, by placing Itself inside of Everything. Wherever you look you will find Pure Intelligence. It is at the basis of all things that exist. Snowflakes reflect Pure Intelligence. The tiniest atoms reflect Pure Intelligence. The biggest swath of the night sky reflects Pure Intelligence. The process of life Itself, examined at every level, reflects Pure Intelligence.

“The energy that I am here calling Pure Intelligence can be used — is being used — at every level of life, by Life Itself. You are using this energy, you are focusing this energy, every second of every minute of every hour of every day…usually without knowing it.

“The fact that this energy exists, and the way to focus it, therefore using it to one’s personal advantage, is what has been called The Secret. A movie by that very name was made a few years back and is sweeping across the world. This energy that I am calling Pure Intelligence, and that I am telling you about is another name for God, and has no opinion about anything. That is because It doesn’t need anything. It is singularly without need, for the simple reason that it is Everything That Exists in Any Form Whatsoever. This includes not only physical things, but metaphysical things as well. This includes all spiritual things, and anything in any form that simply IS…including thoughts, emotions, feelings, ideas, and, yes, the Black Holes of Space.

“Think about this. If God is truly Everything That Exists in Any Form Whatsoever, what in the world could God want or need or require? Why would God punish us for not giving God what we imagine that God wants or needs or requires? The answer to these questions is self-evident. It need not be discussed in great detail, because simple logic reveals it to us and makes it clear how we have been held captive by the mythologies of our own culture and its past.

“The opportunity that lies before us, and before all sentient beings, is to use the Essential Energy of Pure Intelligence in the way in which it was designed to be used. Not all things that exist in the universe can use this Essential Energy consciously. That is, with full self-awareness and with intention. Only those elements of Life Itself that are self-conscious — that is, aware of themselves — can do so.

“I should correct that last statement. Not even all elements of life that are self-conscious can use the Essential Energy consciously. It is not only a question of being conscious, it is also a question of the level of consciousness that a being or a species has attained. For instance, a dog, while highly intelligent, is not sufficiently self-aware (as far as we know) to be able to use Essential Energy with intention.

“Human beings are not only aware of themselves, they are aware that they are aware, and so have risen to at least the Second Level of Consciousness. This level of consciousness allows sentient beings to notice themselves, and even to notice themselves noticing themselves. That is, we can stand ‘outside of ourselves’ and watch ourselves doing what we are doing and thinking what we are thinking and saying what we are saying. We can even watch ourselves watching ourselves. We can step back into the hallway of awareness, looking through doorways both forward and backward — and, according to some, ultimately seeing and experiencing our Divine and Sacred Self.”

When I finished with my comments a man in the back of the room rose to ask what he said was a burning question: “When I first read Conversations with God I was very touched because it allowed me to believe in a God who loved me. Now I am confused. You have just described a God who doesn’t care what I do or how my life turns out. I feel desolate after hearing this description from you. This is not what I came expecting to hear today. It is very little short of depressing. Can you help me?”

It was a marvelous question. A question from a man who was tracking every word and thinking about every nuance and implication. Others in the audience nodded their approval of the inquiry. I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, cleared my throat, and began to speak in a slow, steady voice, the words coming from somewhere beyond my conscious mind.

About Love

About Love

By Neale Donald Walsch

My dear friends…

What is love, really?

People love to be in love. Yet “love” is a big word. It’s the biggest word in the language. Any language. So, we have to ask…

So, it is not true that love demands that we love long after our own happiness has disappeared.

You cannot end a relationship; you can only change it.

They may gain weight or lose it.

When I talk to young people about love, I tell them that there are two questions having to do with life and relationship that everyone would benefit from asking.Where am I going?

So, the third great truth about love is that it knows no conditions.

So, make every day your wedding day in your heart. Even if you are not married. Because you are, you know. To everyone. We are all One.

With Love,

Neal

You Were Meant to Know

You Were Meant to Know

Become more persistent than the illusion!

“Some things we’re not meant to know” – that statement is just a copout! It just lets folks off the hook from interrupting their comfortable beliefs about the human journey and of what follows their exit!

Understandably so, as Einstein said, the illusion is persistent! Our efforts to become more persistent than the illusion is where we fall short and life becomes a persistent hamster wheel!

Those seeking to penetrate the force field of this trance, undergo a mix of doubt and certainty in their ability to do so. Although the illusion is a paradox as all things are an illusion and real, all at once, we are however contending with a specifically stubborn human experience. One that seems to require a level of awakening that might often seem unattainable. But is it the experiences that are stubborn or is it simply our addiction to these experiences that we have difficulty neutralizing.

This is the same quest that ancient seekers sought profound awaken from this trance and some have managed to do so throughout history. Perhaps it’s your turn to break the trance. However it’s tough to do so when we convince ourselves that our limitations are something else, the protection of our egos is one of the strongest rules of survival for humans. Yet our ego often deviate our attention from the actual goal at hand.

This is without a doubt a great feat into our-selves and that which lies beyond the walls of the human illusion. This is alchemy as we work in an effort to achieve the philosopher’s stone. The goal of transmutation!

If you are feeling worn from the journey it’s understandable but keep in mind that the human experience is about focus and where you place your attention. Where you place focus or your attention it requires tremendous energy, so pull back. Take a moment to slow things down so that you can once again see just how wrapped up you might be in your point of distraction. Take a deep breath and keep it moving!
